A limited submission solicitation (RFA, RFP, etc.) places a cap on the number of proposals that Auburn may submit to a sponsor. Auburn coordinates limited submissions by sending out a notification via this newsletter and creating competitions in the Auburn University Competition Space (also known as InfoReady). To apply to any limited submission posted in this newsletter, click on the link below and search for your competition listed on the page. Please refer to the Limited Submission Procedures page for a general list of requirements. However, it is recommended that you go to the specific competition as soon as possible and review the requirements to ensure that you are preparing what is requested since the required information for competitions may vary.

If so, please contact the PSFS office sooner than later so that an internal competition can be created for a timely, university-wide, fair and equitable selection process that allows for ample time for review, feedback and revisions.

The National STEM Teacher Corps Pilot Program invites collaborative and innovative Regional Alliance proposals that recognize, support, help to retain, and uplift the STEM teachers, schools, school districts, and community partners that they serve. The goal of each Regional Alliance must be to leverage the talents, skills, abilities, and resources of teacher-leaders, campus leaders, and faculty at IHEs to create opportunities for synergistic and innovative collaboration among all Alliance partners to enhance the preparation of PreK-12 educators and further develop teaching practices that advance STEM education and the teaching profession. The pilot program rewards teachers for their accomplishments and elevates their public profile. The National STEM Teacher Corps Members serve as professional models to whom all teachers can aspire. The National STEM Teacher Corps Alliances will provide professional development, mentorship, and other support to STEM teachers, with specific attention to teachers certified in non-traditional or alternative methods, with the intent of enhancing the quality and preparedness of the STEM Teachers.

This MRI award supports the acquisition of a multi-user research instrument that is commercially available through direct purchase from a vendor, or for the personnel costs and equipment that are required for the development of an instrument with new capabilities, thereby advancing instrumentation capabilities and enhancing expertise for instrument design and fabrication at academic institutions.

MRI provides support to acquire critical research instrumentation for advances in fundamental science and engineering research which may not otherwise occur. MRI also provides support to obtain next-generation research instruments by developing instruments with new capabilities that open new opportunities to advance the frontiers in science and engineering research. Additionally, an MRI award is expected to enhance research training of students who will become the next generation of instrument users, designers and builders.

An MRI research instrument need not be physically located in a conventional laboratory setting, nor does an instrument need to be "physical" at all. MRI continues to support distributed/networked instruments and cyberinstrumentation that is not appropriate for support through other NSF programs.

Track 1: Proposals are those that request funds from NSF greater than $100,000 and less than $1,400,000; two (2) submissions allowed.

Track 2: MRI proposals are those that request funds from NSF greater than or equal to $1,400,000 up to and including $4,000,000; one (1) submission allowed.

Track 3 (Consistent with section 10373 of the "CHIPS and Science Act of 2022"): Proposals that request funds from NSF greater than or equal $100,0001 and less than or equal to $4,000,000 that include the purchase, development, installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment and instrumentation to conserve or reduce the consumption of helium; one (1) submission allowed.

The MRI program requires that an institution's role as a subawardee (funded at 20% or greater of the NSF budget) on another (lead) institution’s proposal be counted towards its allowed number of submissions in Tracks 1 and 2.  An unfunded collaboration does not count against the submission limit.

Auburn University can nominate two applicants for NEH Summer 2025 Stipends. Summer Stipends carry an award of $6,000 for scholarly projects including books, articles, digital materials, translations, editions and other scholarly resources.

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) seeks to support new and innovative strategies for preventing and reducing crime, improving community safety, and strengthening criminal justice system outcomes. BJA seeks to accomplish this by promoting collaborations with the field to identify, define, and respond to emerging or chronic crime problems or justice system challenges. BJA is looking for strategies that address these issues, including trying new approaches, addressing gaps in responses, building or translating research knowledge, or building capacity.

The Petroleum Research Fund supports fundamental research directly related to petroleum or fossil fuels.

ACS Petroleum Research Fund (ACS PRF) grants are intended as seed money, to enable an investigator to initiate a new research direction. Proposals must be for fundamental research in “the petroleum field,” defined in as “petroleum, natural gas, coal, shale, tar sands and like materials.” PRF currently funds many topics of current interest in sustainability and green chemistry. These include, for example, new catalysts and upgrading/utilization of methane, carbon dioxide and microplastics.

The newly established Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships (TIP) seeks to support experiential learning opportunities for individuals from diverse professional and educational backgrounds that will increase access to, and interest in, career pathways in emerging technology fields (e.g., advanced manufacturing, advanced wireless, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, quantum information science, semiconductors, and microelectronics).

This program supports research that examines technology and its relationship to society through the lens of the humanities, with a focus on the dangers and/or opportunities presented by technology. DOT projects should explore the impacts technology has on culture, health, social interactions, government, cultural institutions, the environment, and other aspects of life. NEH encourages researchers to interpret the term “technology” broadly. NEH is particularly interested in projects that examine the role of technology in shaping current social and cultural issues.

The purpose of this initiative is to support research to develop and test community-level, structural, multi-level, and multi-sectoral interventions to improve minority health and ultimately eliminate health disparities.
