Inspired by Quotes or Lyrics Art Show

Sponsored by BankNewport

The Portsmouth Arts Guild is hosting a new
virtual visual art show using the magic of
words to inspire works of art.

Artists are invited to submit up to 3 works in any medium to this show. All are invited. Words can
be used as devices to evoke imagery for work. Incorporate the words into the work, note them separately or just make them the title.   Words,
a famous quote, a poem, song lyrics can be a
stepping stone to a visual creation.

This will be virtual show with no physical exhibition
of the work. The Guild has achieved great exposure
with past shows on social media and through the
new YouTube channel.

Here’s where intake differs from the usual Guild shows:

Intake for the show starts Wednesday, July 15th,
and continues through Tuesday, July 21st.

Artists must email pictures, in jpeg format, no larger than 5MB, to the [email protected] address.

Dimensions and prices must accompany intake.
All work must be for sale. Work may be framed or unframed.

Artwork in any media are accepted and diversity is encouraged. This is a non-Juried show so all work submitted will be shown.

The show will premiere on the Guild’s new YouTube channel starting the weekend of July 25th.

Show entry fees are, for Members, $15 for the first entry and $5 each additional up to 3 and Non-Members, $20 for the first entry, $10 for the second and $5 for the third

Payment can be by check (check must be received
by July 21st) or by credit or debit card through the “donate” button on the Guild website, please add $2.00 to the total if paying by credit or debit,  portsmoutharts.org.

Submitted works must not have been previously exhibited at the Portsmouth Arts Guild.

Further Suggestions?
Creatively stuck?
Here are some suggestions for combining
words with pictures:

Take a photo and caption it.

Or think of a phrase and take a photo.

Look at a famous quotes website:

Make a book using the ABCs making
a picture for each letter.

Make a cartoon with a caption.

Listen to music and let your imagination go!
