Bugle Calls!
Greetings!

Bob Bugle Headshot
A warm welcome to everyone to the second issue of our online newsletter,  "Bugle Calls". As we all know, websites have become as foundational to most businesses and organizations as a street address and phone number. Some would argue in 2013 even more so. The July issue of "Bugle Calls" focuses on increasing website traffic and offers what we feel is a terrific article submitted by Randy Phillips Apodaca, Web Ad Manager for the Catholic Courier/ El Mensajero Catolico in Rochester New York. Randy is responsible for driving significant traffic levels to Catholiccourier.com and graciously offers some tips on how it's done. Also included is a 3 minute video on SEO (Search Engine Optimization) as well as an updated "Periodic Table" of SEO success factors.

As always, we welcome any thoughts or advice from you, our readers, on future content and topics! If you find value in receiving "Bugle Calls", please feel free to forward a copy to a friend, acquaintance or business associate so they can benefit from the information as well.

"A High Tide Raises All Boats" as the saying goes. As each of us work together to share our knowledge and experience, we (and our organizations) all benefit.

Warm Regards,View our profile on LinkedIn

If you maintain a website and no one sees it, then what?

Guest Author, Randy Phillips

Since I joined the Catholic Courier in 2008 from a background in telecommunications and Internet applications, we have emphasized SEO in order to build up traffic and engagement on the newspaper's website.

The site, www.catholiccourier.com, was rebuilt in 2009 on a content management system (CMS), so most of the "on-page SEO" (content, page titles, description and formatting, URL structure, internal linking, user-friendly 404 pages and authorship verification) was built into the initial website design.

So what is the role of SEO? Search Engine Optimization increases the prominence of a website or web page in results for the top search engines. The more often a particular site shows up on the first page of search results list, the more visits it will get from the search engine's users.

The good news is that SEO isn't.. .
