It is an accomplishment to see a patent ultimately issued from the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Congratulations to Dr. Issam Elias Harik and Dr. Nisal Abheetha Peiris were recently granted the patent of "Structural reinforcement, reinforced structural member and related method".
This patent is an innovative method
to "a structural reinforcement that includes a plurality of individual reinforcing elements. Each of the plurality of reinforcing elements includes a first end segment, a second end segment and an intermediate segment between the first and second end segments. A support engages the plurality of individual reinforcing elements along the intermediate segments and holds the elements in parallel."

High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST)
9:00 am- 10:00 am
|

The Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) is a core federal aid program that utilizes a data driven process to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes on all roads across the country. Kentucky’s HSIP program utilizes data to analyze Kentucky’s roadway network for crash locations that experience more wet pavement collisions than similar roadways across the state. High Friction Surface projects are then created for these identified locations across the state. Some local roads are included in this analysis. In 2019, a local road received high friction surface through the HSIP program. This webinar includes an overview of the HFST program and project details from Daviess County.

We love to celebrate the 4th of July with family, friends, food, and fireworks, but all too often the festivities turn tragic on the nation's roads. The fact is, this American holiday is also one of the deadliest holidays of the year due to impaired-driving crashes.
Over the 4th of July holiday period in 2018 (July 3 to July 5):
- 193 people died in motor vehicle traffic crashes. 40% (78) of these fatalities occurred in alcohol-impaired crashes.
- 71% of these alcohol-impaired fatalities involved at least one driver or motorcyclist with a BAC of .15 or higher.
Under no circumstances is it ever acceptable to get behind the wheel of a vehicle after you’ve been drinking. Doing so endangers you, your passengers, and everyone on the road with you. If you’re heading to Fourth of July parties this summer, remember:
Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over
