Fireworks Show!

WOW...what a show! We hope you enjoyed the fireworks this year as much as we did. Between Freeholder donations and day-of charges, we were able to cover the cost of the show. We also invited three food trucks into the park, which had great success. It warms our hearts to see how many people come out every year to enjoy our beautiful lake.

Award-winning photographer and Freeholder on the lake, Bruce McLaren, always snaps some amazing shots of the show. Below are three of his stunning photographs. If you'd like to see more of the album and purchase prints, click HERE. Thanks again for sharing with us, Bruce!

Vegetation Treatment

Adam and Ross were out on the lake last week surveying areas of emergent vegetation that will need treatment. This summer vegetation treatment will occur on Monday July 31.

There are no body contact restrictions with the treatment, but there is an irrigation restriction for 24 hours.

E.A.R.T.H Fest Success

Back in April of this year Adam and Ross volunteered at Unionville Elementary (go Arrows!) during their inaugural E.A.R.T.H. Fest. There were many outdoor learning opportunities for families and it was a great way to celebrate Earth Day.

LLCD represented with various water samples taken from different locations within and around the lake that depicted various levels of sedimentation and what the sedimentation means for the lake. The kiddos had many engaging questions and enjoyed the activity. We recently received these two thank you drawings on behalf of the Unionville Arrows. What a neat community we have around Lake Lemon!

Board Meeting

The next LLCD Board Meeting (as always, open to the public) will be Thursday, July 27th. The meeting will take place at the City of Bloomington Utilities Building. Please check our website here for updated meeting information.

2024 Total Solar Eclipse - Save The Date!

On Monday April 8th 2024, Lake Lemon will experience an event 800 years in the making. The Moon will pass between the Sun and Earth, creating a darkened sky and ring of light surrounding the sun.

Lying directly in the path of totality, Lake Lemon will experience over 4 minutes of total eclipse, some of the longest in the country! To celebrate this, Riddle Point Park will host camping where you can witness the celestial event while being surrounded on three sides by water.

Watch as the moon’s shadow comes across the lake at 2,000 miles an hour. The sky will darken as waterfowl, songbirds, frogs, and insects begin chirping as if it were dusk. While festivities will last all day, the partial eclipse will begin at 1:49 pm and last until 4:22 pm, with totality lasting from 3:04 pm – 3:08 pm. Click here to see a map of eclipse totality.

We are SUPER close to opening reservations for both primitive RV and tent camping. We will host 2 nights of camping in Riddle Point Park!

Lake Lemon is excited to offer this experience for you to witness such a rare event from both land and water in our unique natural setting. You will not want to miss this once in a lifetime experience! Stay tuned for more information, and for now, save the date!
