BUILD America 250 Act, H.R. 8870

The Chamber signed on to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s coalition letter urging Congress to advance the BUILD America 250 Act, a bipartisan surface transportation reauthorization bill supporting roads, bridges, rail, transit, ports, permitting reform, and long-term infrastructure investment. This advocacy directly supports regional mobility, goods movement, tourism access, and economic competitiveness. Link: U.S. Chamber support letter.

AB 1776, Cartwright Act: Violations, Oppose

The Chamber opposed AB 1776 because it would expand California’s antitrust law by creating new standards for single-firm conduct, including claims related to unreasonable restraint of trade, monopolization, and monopsonization. The Chamber raised concerns that moving away from established federal guidance could create legal uncertainty, increase litigation exposure, and raise compliance costs for employers engaged in ordinary pricing, contracting, and business operations. AB 2084, Tax-Exempt Organizations: Revocation of Tax-Exempt Status, Support

The Chamber supported AB 2084 to protect local nonprofits and community-serving organizations from losing state tax-exempt status because of minor or correctable federal administrative issues. The bill gives the Franchise Tax Board discretion to preserve state tax-exempt status when the federal issue does not involve fraud, intentional misrepresentation, misuse of funds, failure to file required reports, or other serious governance violations. AB 1790, Worldwide Combined Reporting, Oppose

The Chamber opposed AB 1790 because it would eliminate California’s water’s-edge election and require corporations to move toward worldwide combined reporting for tax purposes beginning in 2028. The Chamber raised concerns that the bill would increase tax exposure, create major compliance burdens for employers operating across multiple jurisdictions, and make California less competitive for business investment. CalChamber President’s Circle Award

The Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce was recognized by the California Chamber of Commerce with the 2026 President’s Circle Award, one of CalChamber’s top honors for local chambers engaged in business and legislative advocacy.



CalChamber named 20 recipients statewide this year, including the Simi Valley Chamber, Greater Conejo Valley Chamber, and West Ventura County Business Alliance, giving Ventura County a strong showing among California’s leading business advocacy organizations. VICA Sacramento Advocacy Delegation

The Simi Chamber participated in VICA’s June 23 Sacramento advocacy effort, joining business leaders in meetings with state legislators and Capitol staff to advance a stronger business climate, predictable regulations, and policies that support investment, innovation, housing, restaurants, and job creation.

The delegation supported legislation on advanced air mobility, restaurant permitting, and small-scale housing opportunities, while raising concerns with bills that could expand liability, add duplicative mandates, or create new operational burdens for California employers.
