LIBRARY NEWS & PROGRAMS
Annual Report
Our 2018 Annual Report is out! By now, all Patterson residents should have received it in the mail. If you did not receive your copy or do not live in the Town of Patterson, you may pick one up at the library or click here to read it on our website . The number of visitors, programs, borrowed items, computer usage and other services and activities will astound you. Stop by soon to check us out and take advantage of the many services we have to offer.
Staff Training
In an effort to better serve the community, Patterson Library staff had a full day of CPR and first aid training with Peter Dandreano, Patterson Town Board member and Owner/Training Director of Angel Care Safety. Staff learned how to recognize the symptoms and signs of a heart attack and stroke as well as how to administer CPR and abdominal thrusts to help someone who is choking. In addition to learning how to perform CPR on adults, adolescents and infants, the staff trained on how to use the library’s AED, Automatic External Defibrillator. The AED, which the library received as part of a grant from IBM, is fully automatic and can be used on adults and children. The afternoon session included first aid training on a wide range of topics. With people of all ages coming to the library, being prepared for emergencies has become a priority. Last year’s tornadoes proved the need to be ready for anything when dozens of people were stranded at the library, including children who had to wait hours for their parents to pick them up due to downed power lines and trees.
Census 2020 Jobs Available
It's time to count everyone in the United States! And you can get paid to help!

The U.S. Census Bureau is the largest statistical agency in the country. Census information is used for a multitude of purposes that can shape many different aspects of your community. The results help determine how more than $675 billion in federal funding is distributed to states and communities. Decennial census data is used to determine your representation in Congress and how funds are spent for roads, schools, hospitals, and more.

To aid in this task, the U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people across the country to assist with the 2020 Census count. Temporary positions for the 2020 Census offer flexible schedules and competitive wages, which are paid weekly, as well as paid training. They are hiring for available Office and Field positions now through spring 2020.

Interested in learning more? For Field Operations positions visit https://2020census.gov/jobs. All other positions must apply at www.USAJobs.gov
