We Need Sizes 4, 5, and 6 Diapers
Our Parent Support Program has noticed a huge need for our families--diapers! Specifically, sizes 4, 5, and 6 for the little movers and shakers. If you are able to donate these sizes, please drop them off at our business office located at 1701 Gladstone Street. Thank you in advance!
Thank You Social Fabric
Thank you so very much to owner Renee and her team (Karin, Molly, and Anne especially!) for all of your work at their second annual Clean Out Your Closet Sidewalk Sale! Proceeds along with direct clothing donations went to benefit us and Agape House, and it was a huge hit! Thank you to everyone who supported Social Fabric, because you supported us!
Get inspired with this impact story courtesy of Community Rehousing Case Manager Amanda Blomquist!

Every morning, Mouze starts his day with a cup of coffee and some meditation. Through Lydia Place’s Community Rehousing Program and with the help of his case manager Amanda, Mouze moved into an apartment 5 months ago, after 15 years of living on the streets and in emergency shelter.

Mouze has made his apartment his own by decorating it with things that he has hand-picked himself, including some of his own artwork. Now that he has his own home, Mouze comes and goes freely knowing that he always has a safe place to come back to, and loves to be able to host his family and friends there. He finds that it is far less stressful for him to achieve his goals and pursue his passions than it was when he was wondering where he was going to sleep each night. Mouze is passionate about being a homeless advocate, so he spends much of his spare time out in the community volunteering, as well as collecting clothing from his friends and donating it to local churches that provide them to people who are in need. Currently Mouze is working towards getting a full time job, and plans in the coming year to start school so he can study public speaking. His long-term goal is to become a motivational speaker so that he can share his story and give hope to people who might be struggling with a period of homelessness like he did.

With his newfound peace, Mouze finds joy in being able to say he can “go home,” for the first time in 15 years.

Congratulations Mouze on your new home and this next chapter in your life!

Is homelessness a public health disaster in our region? Officials in King County think so, and are calling on deploying FEMA tents before the cold winter months.
Whatcom County residents are overall healthy--if you're not in the margins. New study has shown that health is dependent on income, gender, where you live, and much more in our own community.
Food waste is a major problem in our country, and even here at home. But Sustainable Connections have launched a new program to reduce food waste from local restaurants, and even households can participate!
