Register NOW for the 2016 MACTE Symposium!

December 2-3rd, 2016
Crowne Plaza Hotel, Alexandria, VA

The Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) will hold its 5th Annual Symposium for Montessori Teacher Educators on December 2-3, 2016 in Alexandria, VA. Due to several requests, this year's Symposium will not hold sessions on Sunday. This event draws Montessori teacher educators from around the world and is an opportunity for program directors, faculty and national organizations to discuss topics relevant to Montessori teacher education. This year's Symposium will focus on the topic of Student Outcomes, how to collect the data; what are the instruments for collecting the data; and most importantly, what does the data tell us and what do we do with it?

This year's Symposium will begin Friday morning with registration and breakfast. We will kick off the Symposium with updates from MACTE's President, Dr. Rebecca Pelton, followed by our keynote speaker. A full program of events will be coming soon.

The receptions for the Wisdom of the Elders and Dennis Schapiro Award for Innovation in Montessori Teacher Education will be held on Saturday night. This allows participants to enjoy dinner out in Alexandria Old Town and the Boat Parade on the Potomac on Friday evening.
We look forward to your participation! Please register early!

portalNEW! MACTE Accreditation Management Portal
Introducing the new  MACTE Accreditation Management Portal

We are excited to introduce the new MACTE Accreditation Management Portal (AMP). AMP is an easy-to-use, web-based application that will be used for all future Self-Studies, substantive change applications, on-site verification reports, and annual reporting. The MACTE team selected the platform with each of our teacher education programs in mind. With the introduction of the portal, we aim to streamline the accreditation process, centralize everything to one place, and overall make your life easier!

It's time to say goodbye to Dropbox!

For programs that are applying for renewal or initial accreditation, you will be set up with an account on the portal and supplied with a username/password. Additional programs will be provided with the login information upon assignment of their first report.

To become familiar with the portal, please read through our short tutorial.  Please address all questions to [email protected]. We are happy to answer all questions, concerns, or problems as everyone gets adapted to the new platform.

MACTE Board Letter Regarding
Administrator Credential
At its April Board meeting, the MACTE Board of Directors reviewed a petition for recognition of the Administrators Credential for accreditation. The petitions were read and discussed at length.  The Board was in agreement in that to consider accreditation of the courses being offered by programs, a Montessori Administrator's Credential would need to be structured more like a leadership course at a college or university which requires two years of study, with an internship, for a MA in Leadership and Administration.  The Board is open to more discussion and the formation of a taskforce on this topic. We will extend an invitation to be involved in the taskforce in the future.  The Board was in agreement that MACTE will not make a motion on accreditation of an administrator's course at this time.

All comments should be directed t o [email protected] with  Administrator Credential in the subject line.
