Tampa releases Climate Action Plan

This past month, the City of Tampa released its first ever Climate Action Plan to help mitigate an ever-changing climate and prepare for long term resiliency. Transportation emissions make up 46% of all greenhouse gas emissions within the City limits, up from 22% since 2009. Meanwhile, TECO has decreased its carbon footprint for the Tampa Bay region by almost 40% since 2009 by switching from Coal to Natural Gas for energy production.

The Action plan helps to identifying strategies like shade trees, zoning reform and providing more options to move in Tampa without a car that impact our climate. The City hopes to make Tampa a resilient community by applying multiple tactics on housing, mobility and waste management to make Tampa a more resilient city.
