To our Faith in Texas Partners and Friends,

Once again, with the upcoming election approaching, it’s almost time to cast our votes. As we prepare to do our duty, the words of our friends at Auburn Seminary resound in our hearts and minds:

“Violence does not bring us closer to the healed future on which we have set our sights. Violence, harassment, and intimidation, regardless of motivation, has no place in our elections. Abiding it, from anyone, only ensures the failure of our already fragile democracy and poisons our shared future.”

This message is a call to action for all of us to actively promote democracy and denounce violence in our elections and civic process. Our history as a country continues to remind us of how important it is for each of us to do our part in promoting democracy and being engaged in the civic and political process. Faith in TX remains laser-focused on our mission to help bring about a nonviolent and equitable society rooted in values of love, joy, and belonging. As we continue this work, we thank you for all your efforts and continued allyship. Your role in this mission is crucial. Let us all continue doing our best to hold fast to democracy and our shared vision of the beloved community.

In Faith and Service,

Rev. Dr. Jaime Kowlessar
