As part of WRF Project #5327 and in partnership with Alliance for Water Efficiency, we are gathering insights from water utilities on how they're addressing revenue stability amidst declining or fluctuating demand.
Your input will help identify industry needs, effective business models, and practical strategies for more financially resilient utilities.

During London Climate Week, the Water Resilience Coalition co-organized an event on collective action for water resilience in collaboration with the UN Global Compact Network UK.
From material risks to operations and supply chains to investor, disclosure, and consumer demands, corporates can no longer afford to ignore water. WRC members gathered to discuss driving forward solutions that build resilience and secure water for communities, ecosystems, and economies.

| | Help Shape the Future of Scope 2 Water Accounting: WRI & WSP Invite Corporate Input | |
| |  | WRI & WSP are collaborating to update the 2020 Guidance for Calculating Water Use Embedded in Purchased Electricity and are looking for interested corporate partners to provide funding and feedback. This update will focus on updating the water use factors with the latest and greatest data on country- and subnational-level grid average water withdrawals and consumption. Use of this guidance document and the associated factors has been widespread in literature across sectors, and leading multinational companies are using it to better understand dependencies, risks, and opportunities associated with their purchased electricity. The factors are based on data from 2018, so it is to the benefit of users of this information to update the factors. Further, there is increasing scrutiny associated with ‘scope 2 water use’ from environmental watchdogs and other NGOs critical of corporate water stewardship commitments. While updating the guidance, WRI & WSP – along with corporate partners – will also evaluate if there is a need to clarify, enhance, and/or expand the existing guidance.

On July 24, Pacific Institute Associate Director, Accounting for Nature, Dr. Gregg Brill, was featured at the CEC32 JPAC Public Forum in Mexico City, Mexico. The event brought together environmental officials, Indigenous and community leaders, subject matter experts, business leaders, youth, and members of the public to discuss priorities and collaborative solutions addressing the Circular Economy and Nature-based Solutions.
His panel, "Nature-based Solutions: Ecological Regeneration and Economic Opportunities," spotlighted innovative NBS initiatives that deliver both environmental impact and livelihood benefits.

The Pacific Institute’s work engaging businesses to take action on water was featured at the AWS Global Water Stewardship Forum and the Edinburgh WaterLogues in Scotland, June 24–26. The forum highlighted the CEO Water Mandate, a partnership between the Pacific Institute and the United Nations Global Compact, that engages more than 450 endorsing companies from around the world.
Hosted by the Alliance for Water Stewardship, the forum united experts, implementers, and stakeholders to share learnings on water stewardship practices.
