KAIZEN project success for Sustainable Growers!

Ruth Ann has been working with Sustainable Growers as a consultant to help three cooperatives learn lean practices and improve their profitability and quality at the same time.

During peak season each cooperative successfully implemented a KAIZEN project:

  • * Nyampinga - increased well-picked cherry and decreased unripe cherry.
  • * TUK - implemented a strict schedule for cherry delivery, saving 3 hours every day for coopearative staff. On-time cherry deliveries = high-quality depulped coffee and happier staff and site collectors.
  • * Mayogi - through sensitization of farmers the quality of cherry delivered was improved, which in turn improved productivity of their depulping machine by 167%.
