Sunny Session with Youth Challenge

We always love working with Youth Challenge, an organization that provides activities to young people with physical disabilities and their teen volunteer partners. This month, artist-educator Stephen Phillips provided an outdoor hip-hop and graffiti workshop to 15 summer campers and their teen volunteers.

The program was a huge success! Afterwards, Youth Challenge’s Program Coordinator shared, “Stephen was very knowledgeable and had high energy that made the kids listen intently to every word he said. I felt the project he brought for our program was at the perfect level for our kid's abilities. We want more collaboration with Arts Impact!”

Participants and their teen volunteers gather around a picnic table, using paint markers and graffiti techniques to design colorful albums.

Reporter Unity Powell writes: "In a time where traditional educational methods can be too limited in structure to engage all students, Arts Impact has been developing an innovative approach to education. The organization recently received a $25,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to expand their transformative programs, which integrate arts into various academic subjects to enhance student learning and development."
