Our library has been busy this summer with our fantastic reading programs and all the special events. We have lots more in the month of July so make sure you are checking our calendar regularly.

Progress continues on our new downtown Library. Steel is up and the frame of the building can be seen. Floors are poured and the steel is in place for the slope of the auditorium which will be a signature piece of our new building. We are still on schedule to open in summer 2013. We continue the 2012 season of Out Loud! with thriller writer James Rollins on July 1 at 1 pm at The Hotel at Kirkwood. Rollins will read from Bloodline, the eighth entry in his bestselling Sigma Force series. Signing will follow. Author Sam Kean will read July 13 at 7 pm at The Hotel at Kirkwood. Kean is a science writer and author of The Disappearing Spoon and Other True Tales of Madness, Love and the History of the World. Learn more about the Out Loud! Stop by on Saturday, July 14, at 3:00 pm, for this exciting event featuring Iowan Jill Hathaway, author of recently released YA novel Slide, as she reads from her book, answers your questions, and discusses what she is working on! Light refreshments will be provided. All attendees are elligible to win a copy of Slide and other random prizes, so don't miss this event! 

Youth between the grades of 6 and 12 are invited to participate in Teens Create Week July 23 - 27. Programs are held at 6 pm each day and include duct tape wallets, mosaic tiles, and sharpie tie die.
