DENNIS BARCIAL APUAN TO BE HONORED AS THE 2021 MILTON E. PROBY CULTURAL HERITAGE INDUCTEE
Former State Representative Dennis Barcial Apuan (1964-2020) will be honored at a virtual ceremony in August. Representative Apuan was a vibrant community leader in the Pikes Peak region and a lifelong advocate for civil rights, equality and peace for all.

The theme of El Pomar's 2020 annual report is “Staying Connected,” an ode to the dedication and resilience of the Foundation staff, Trustees and grantees in the face of a global pandemic. The report features highlights of virtual events, Colorado Assistance Fund deployment, program updates and statewide grantmaking.
EL POMAR HONORS HEALTHCARE WORKERS THROUGH APPRECIATION WEEK SPONSORSHIPS
In an expression of thanks, the Foundation Trustees approved funding for healthcare workers and their families to receive underwritten admission to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum over the course of two weeks earlier this spring. The events honored frontline workers in appreciation of their efforts to safeguard the Colorado Springs community against the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

THE LATE TOM OSBORNE HONORED WITH THE LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT IN SPORT AWARD
Tom Osborne, former President and CEO of Colorado Springs Sports Corporation, was presented posthumously with the Trustees’ Lifetime Achievement in Sport Award for Excellence at a celebration of life in June. Mr. Osborne was instrumental in making Colorado Springs a destination for amateur and professional athletes and one of the key architects of the City for Champions initiative.
PIKES PEAK HERITAGE SERIES TO HOST EQUITY IN OUTDOOR RECREATION PANEL
El Pomar’s Pikes Peak Heritage Series is honored to convene industry leaders to discuss the current and future state of inclusion and equity in outdoor recreation in Colorado. The event, held at Hillside Community Center on August 17 from 4-6pm, is open to the public.
