20 YEARS OF GRANT MAKING

SAN JUAN REGIONAL COUNCIL HOSTS CONVENING OF MENTAL HEALTH EXPERTS
Penrose House welcomed mental health experts and members of our regional councils on May 23 to discuss grant making in Colorado’s mental health sector. Spearheaded by the San Juan Regional Council, five of El Pomar's 11 regional councils had members in attendance in person or via webinar to learn from Matt Vogl , Shelly Spalding , Ty Meredith , and Matt Thelen . RECAP OF 2019 REGIONAL NONPROFIT EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
The end of May brought learning and growth to the nonprofit sector in the Central Peaks region, as El Pomar Foundation hosted the 2019 Regional Nonprofit Executive Leadership Program in Salida. Learn more in our two-part blog post below.
In June, El Pomar and the American Council of Young Political Leaders welcomed a delegation from Taiwan. Delegates and El Pomar Fellows met with local leaders and enjoyed all that Colorado has to offer, from state delicacies to the Rocky Mountains.
HUNDRED CLUB HONORS FIRST RESPONDERS
On May 7, 2019 The Hundred Club of Colorado Springs hosted its 20th Annual Golf Tournament and 25th Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony. Three first responders were recognized for their outstanding commitment to service: Lieutenant Jane Anderson from the CSPD, Captain Barry Madison from the CSFD, and Sergeant Jason Hess from the EPSO.
El Pomar has welcomed eight summer interns, who are working with various departments and programs such as the Investment Office, Regional Partnerships, and Awards for Excellence. Our interns represent seven different schools across the nation, and we are looking forward to their 11 weeks of service to the people of Colorado.
STAFF UPDATES
Jennifer Dodd
In May, former Fellow Jennifer Dodd joined the Foundation as Associate Vice President and Director of Leadership Programs. She succeeds Devanie Helman, who left El Pomar in June for a new position with  White River Strategy.
Mike Buth
Mike Buth was promoted to Vice President and Director of Historic Properties, succeeding Peter Maiurro who now serves as the chief communications and business affairs officer for the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum.
FELLOWSHIP UPDATES
Corey Baron '17 will start at the Yale School of Management this fall.
Morgan Harrison '17 joined HomeAdvisor as a full-time summer intern, working as a product manager focusing on building out the company's consumer product offerings.
Haley Ballenger '17 is working for Kaiser Permanente Washington as a Community Health Program Specialist.
