July 2021 Heart Connections!
For the pets and people of our community, July was another great month! A total of 56 pets were adopted. One of our greatest successes from the month is the adoption of Keegan, who waited 104 days to find his match. Keegan is a senior pet who came into our care with heartworm disease. GMHS is incredibly thankful to our friends and supporters who ensure we have the resources to give pets like Keegan the time necessary to make a lasting heart connection. May Keegan and his new family enjoy many happy years together!

July 2021 Shelter Snapshot

The generous support of staff, volunteers, and donors enables GMHS to provide daily care, cover special medical needs, foster animals in homes as needed, and arrange transportation to adoption-guaranteed partners. We are also committed to education, outreach, and transparency. Our annual statistics are available on our website, and we also offer you a monthly snapshot.
Would you be willing to temporarily foster a homeless pet in need? We are thrilled to introduce to you our new program, Home Before the Highway! These pets are fully-vetted, healthy dogs and cats who have transfers scheduled through our successful Highway to Home program and are just awaiting their transports. Foster families will help us to free up space in our kennels so we can save more lives! The typical foster need is around two weeks. All supplies necessary are provided, and the pets must be kept separate from your existing pets.

If you are interested in temporarily opening your home and providing love to a shelter pet, this fostering opportunity might be for you! Please visit our website to fill out your foster application, or email for more information.
