Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we reflect on the success of our June Crab Feast, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who made the event so special. On behalf of everyone at Kids’ Chance of Maryland, thank you for making the KCMD 2025 Get Crackin’ Feast such a success. We’re extremely grateful to everyone who contributed to the planning, execution, and celebration of such a meaningful evening.
This issue includes photo highlights from the event, capturing the energy, connection, and community spirit that defined the night. From scholarship recipients to supporters and volunteers, these moments reflect the heart of what makes KCMD so special
Your support fuels our mission—and helps us continue providing educational scholarships to the children of injured workers across Maryland. A very special thanks to our generous sponsors, Excelsia Injury Care and Workers' Comp Law Firm, whose partnership made the night possible. We’re especially grateful to Dr. Charles Thorne of Excelsia Injury Care, whose ongoing support and sponsorship have played a key role in the success of Kids' Chance of Maryland events—especially the Crab Feast. We’re excited to share photo highlights from the event, capturing the spirit of connection and community that defines KCMD. We’d also like to recognize Ted Ehudin, Esq. of Workers' Comp Law Firm, who not only served as a sponsor but also chaired this year’s Crab Feast. His leadership and dedication helped bring the event to life, and we’re grateful for his continued commitment to KCMD.
We were especially honored to have two current scholarship recipients join us at the event, Their presence offered a powerful reminder of the lives directly impacted by your generosity and support.
Another inspiring update comes from Tyzen House, who is gaining hands-on experience this summer through his externship at the Sagamore Resort in Lake George, New York. Tyzen’s continued academic progress and career preparation represent the very heart of what Kids’ Chance of Maryland stands for: creating opportunity, fostering resilience, and supporting futures with purpose.
This month also brings moments of reflection and remembrance. We mourn the loss of L. Mark Vincent, retired Commissioner and long-serving KCMD Board Member, whose leadership and dedication helped shape our organization. In a final act of generosity, Mark requested that contributions be made in his memory to Kids’ Chance of Maryland. We are deeply grateful for his legacy and for the continued impact of his commitment.
The KCMD family also remembers Terry Doyle, a KCMD Champion whose support and advocacy helped advance our mission. We are deeply grateful for his legacy of commitment to the children of injured Maryland workers.
Together, we celebrate progress, honor legacy, and look ahead with purpose. Looking forward, we hope to see many of you at our next signature gathering—the KCMD Golf Tournament on July 24 at Compass Pointe Golf Course in Pasadena. Whether you're swinging a club, sponsoring a hole, or joining us for lunch and networking, it promises to be another meaningful opportunity to connect in support of our mission.
Thank you for being part of this journey.
With sincere appreciation,
Edgar G. Dodd, III
President, Kids' Chance of Maryland
