Sharing Our Legacy!

For 37 years, MHO has built more than homes; we’ve built a legacy of dignity, stability, and community through the power of home. From safe rental housing to essential home repairs, our work reflects a deep belief that everyone deserves a place to call home. With over 16,000 photos capturing moments of impact, our legacy lives in every family housed, every neighborhood strengthened, and every life changed. Today, we launch our new platform on SmugMug, where you can explore the visual history of MHO!

Save the Date for MHO’s signature event, Building Hope: An Evening for Affordable Housing, on October 15th, 2025! This year, we are taking Building Hope to Asheville’s River Arts District for a “RAD Edition!” We are excited to partner with The Radical Hotel and the local businesses, artists, and residents that call this unique neighborhood home.

The need for affordable housing in our region has never been greater, especially in the wake of Tropical Storm Helene. We hope you’ll join us as we celebrate the strength and resilience of our community in the face of long-term recovery. Registration launches in mid-August, so keep an eye out for your invitation!

MHO is once again proud to be the beneficiary of this year’s AVL Top 100 event. AVL Top 100, presented by the Kim Winters Team of Movement Mortgage, recognizes the top-producing realtors and agencies in Buncombe County. It’s no surprise that many of WNC’s top real estate and lending professionals are champions of affordable housing. Since its inception, AVL Top 100 has raised over $75,000 in donations supporting MHO’s suite of affordable housing services. Special thanks to Kim Winters and the AVL Top 100 donors and sponsors for another incredible event! Check out photos and the highlight reel from this year’s Viva Ashe-Vegas celebration.

MHO was recently awarded a $268,000 grant from the SOULSHINE Concert Fund to support housing recovery following Tropical Storm Helene! The grant will fund MHO’s Essential Home Repair program, providing critical repairs to help keep vulnerable homeowners safe and housed. The SOULSHINE Fund was created through a benefit concert led by the Dave Matthews Band at Madison Square Garden in November 2024, raising over $4.5 million for storm recovery efforts. Thank you to the SOULSHINE Concert Fund and the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation, which has distributed funds to a variety of organizations on the ground!
