What's New for July
Librarian's Corner
The Summer Reading Program got off to a fantastic start and we have many events and family fun planned for July. We enjoyed a tremendous turnout for the kickoff party on June 16th, with over 100 visitors participating in art activities, walking through stories, and celebrating the opening of the seed library! The hot dogs and snow cones were also popular. Many thanks to the Friends of the Loomis Library for making this such a highlight
for everyone.
Recent community outreach efforts are paying off as we continue to grow our membership. We had two first grade classes from Loomis Grammar School visit the library as a last day of school field trip. The students received their library cards and learned about the Summer Reading Program. We also had a booth at the Loomis Friday Family Fest offering free crafts, signing up new members, and providing information about all of our programs. In total, we added 93 new members in June!

We continue to add new material to the library and have over 200 new books, dvds, audiobooks, and periodicals for the month of June. If you haven't been into the library recently, please stop in and see what's new.

The UC Master Gardeners of Placer County continue to help us get our seed library up and running. They will be here for a special presentation on August 4th: How to save seeds from summer crops and plant a fall garden. We appreciate all of their support!

Our book: Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kngsolver

Author Barbara Kingsolver and her family abandoned the industrial-food pipeline to live a rural life—vowing that, for one year, they’d only buy food raised in their own neighborhood or grow it themselves or learn to live without it. Part memoir, part journalistic investigation, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle is an enthralling narrative that will open your eyes in a hundred new ways to an old truth: You are what you eat.
