Summer at Cornucopia Project is Bustling! 🌱

Summer is in full swing at Cornucopia Project! The school gardens are growing, our volunteers are out in force, and the Educational Farm has been crawling with Young Farmers, student field trips, and community partner visits. Read on to see what we've been up to this month!

Young Farmers Program 🌱

Our Young Farmers have been busy harvesting summer vegetables, making fresh lemonade, firing up the grill for homemade pizzas, and holding their annual salsa competition. And, of course, summer wouldn’t be complete without trips for ice cream and a dip at the swimming hole!

Support the Young Farmers Scholarship Fund 🌱

You can make it possible for local children to have memory-making summer experiences. 60% of our young farmers use scholarships to attend our young farmers program this summer.

We need to raise $8,000 to cover current scholarship requests. Please give generously today to ensure all families have access.

Field Trips to the Educational Farm 🌱

We love welcoming local summer programs to the Educational Farm! This July, we had the pleasure of hosting campers from The Well School and participants in the Peterborough Recreation Teens in Action program. Thanks for visiting!

We Took a Field Trip to Rindge Memorial School 🌱

A Fun-Filled Visit with the Extended School Year Program!

We had a wonderful time visiting Rindge Memorial School! Students got busy with all kinds of hands-on activities, including making fresh salsa, pesto, and garlic bread, creating beautiful flower prints, making seed balls and paper pots, and planting sunflower seeds to take home. We even wrapped up with a paint-chip scavenger hunt mural!

A big thank you to the Mariposa Museum for inviting our Student Farmers to explore and learn from their collection of artifacts! It was a wonderful opportunity for students to connect what they’re learning through farming with history, culture, and the many ways people have grown, prepared, and shared food throughout time.

Plant a Seed, Read: Farm-Fresh Salsa at the Library!

Cornucopia Project joined the Plant a Seed, Read program at the Peterborough Town Library and brought a little bit of the farm to the library! Farmer Dave and our Student Farmers recently led library patrons in a hands-on demonstration of how to make farm fresh salsa, using ingredients grown at our Educational Farm in Peterborough!
