SPF Translator: What Do Those Numbers Really Mean?

SPF (Sun Protection Factor) tells you how long sunscreen will protect your skin from burning compared to no protection.

SPF 15 = protects about 15x longer than no sunscreen
SPF 30 = about 30x longer
SPF 50 = about 50x longer
SPF 100 = about 100x longer

🧴 Pro Tips:

Reapply every 2 hours, or after swimming/sweating — no matter the SPF.
Use at least SPF 30 for everyday use; go higher for outdoor activities.
Don’t forget ears, scalp, lips, and tops of feet!

💬 Ask your pharmacist if any of your medications increase sun sensitivity — some antibiotics, acne meds, and diuretics can.

Did you know that we have a PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program in collaboration with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy?

Our 2024-2025 resident, Natalie, graduated from our program on June 27th and will be joining our team full-time managing our clinical services.
