Our Free Presentations Are Having Positive Results!
Thanks to everyone who joined us for our latest presentation and vegan food tasting at the Clinton-Macomb Public Library. This was our largest program yet with 177 attendees who enjoyed vegan food from Unburger Grill, La Marsa, and Teriyaki Time as well as vegan ice cream samples from Ice Cream Plant. Individuals learned about the health, ethical, and environmental benefits of a plant-based diet from Dr. Joel Kahn and Marc Ramirez. These presentations are geared toward individulas who are new to plant-based eating, so we also sent attendees home with important information that will help with their transition to eating plant-based.

VegMichigan puts a lot of time and energy into these presentations and our exit surveys show real results: 64% of attendees say they will "move toward a plant-based diet" and 13% will "go vegan" as a result of attending this program!

Help us to continue and expand these free presentations by becoming a VegMichigan member   today. Also, if you know someone who would benefit from one of our presentations, our next two events are on July 24th in Orion Township and August 1st at the Livonia Civic Center Library.

A special thanks to Chickpea and Bean for co-hosting the event with us and to VegFund for supporting our efforts by offsetting the costs of food and advertising for the event.

4th of July Parade in Ann Arbor
Join is in downtown Ann Arbor in honor of Independence Day to march for freedom and justice for all , including farm animals. This will be a really fun way to celebrate the 4th and promote compassion for the animals too! Walk with us to promote veganism, healthy eating, and kindness. We encourage walkers to wear either veg positive/kid-friendly shirts, buttons, and hats and/or red, white and blue. You can also bring small American flags to wave. This is a family friendly event, and we strongly encourage children to attend as well! They can bring bikes or wagons and we will decorate them with signs and streamers. Line up begins at 9:15am and the parade begins at 10am. Contact [email protected] for more information.
Web Design Volunteer Needed
Do you, or someone you know, have web design experience and want to help VegMichigan further its mission to educate people on the benefits of going vegan? If so, we need your help! VegMichigan's website is long overdue for an overhaul and we're looking for someone with web design experience to help us update our platform and add features, including an online store. This would be a one-time volunteer project that requires only a few hours of your time. If you can help, please contact [email protected] .
"Star Trek's Dr. Spock Changed My Diet"
Check out Zoe Weil's fascinating piece from "Psychology Today" , which refutes the idea that one must eat meat to be healthy and tells her story of going vegan 30 years ago. Zoe Weil is the President and Co-Founder of the Institute for Humane Education, an author of 7 books, and was inducted into the Animal Rights Hall of Fame in 2010.
