MEET THE 2023-24 YOUTH BOARD

In June, Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference received an exhilarating honor by being named as "Nonprofit of the Year" by California State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil. Youth representative Jayce Kaldunski and Founder and Executive Director Jennifer Bassett met with the Senator to receive a certificate that will proudly be displayed at the Hands4Hope El Dorado Hills Youth Center.

Watch the video that Senator Alvarado-Gil shared, and get the full scoop below.

NONPROFIT OF THE YEAR ARTICLE

Now is the time to join two of our year long Committee opportunities! Youth in grades 7 and up are welcome for both opportunities, and adults are needed too! New participants are also welcome.

EMERGENCY FOOD PANTRY COMMITTEE

Learn to run a food pantry that provides support to families in need and collaborates with partner agencies. This committee meets the second Tuesday of each month at 4 pm at the Hands4Hope Placerville Youth Center, and hosts monthly food distributions on the 4th Tuesday of the month starting in September, and additional community food drives as needed throughout the year.

ASPIRE OUTFITTERS COMMITTEE

You can make it possible for vulnerable youth to have access to the clothing they need by becoming part of the ASPIRE Outfitters Committee. This committee will meet once a month at the Hands4Hope Placerville Youth Center (date time and location to be determined in August) and will plan and hold a quarterly event (collection, sort, or distribution based upon current needs).

We couldn't be prouder! Our own Jennifer Bassett, heart and soul of Hands4Hope, was named as one of the 2023 "Women Who Mean Business" honorees by the Sacramento Business Journal!

Here's what she had to say about receiving this incredible recognition:

“Being honored among the capital region’s top female movers and shakers reinforces that Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference has made a great enough impact on the community and the youth in it to be recognized and celebrated.”

We are all so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with, learn from, and support Jennifer's vision for Hands4Hope and leadership in our community!

For the 10th year in a row, Hands4Hope - Youth Making A Difference youth are collecting school supplies to help local students in need start the year off on the right foot by providing backpacks and needed supplies. There is an anticipated increase in need this year, so this youth-led committee is working to collect backpacks and supplies for 700 students before their distribution event in early August.

Drop off locations are conveniently located throughout the Folsom, El Dorado Hills, Cameron Park, Shingle Springs, and Placerville areas and beyond. Thank you to all our generous partners for hosting bins! Supporters can skip going to the store and shop directly from our Amazon list, or simply make a donation and let us do the shopping for you.

The School Supply Drive will culminate in the "Stuff the Bus" event on July 14 in El Dorado Hills Town Center, near Target. Volunteers are needed to make this event a success.

We can't wait to update you on the progress of this year's drive!
