Dear AFP Santa Barbara-Ventura Chapter Members,
As we arrive at the midpoint of the year, many of us are already turning our sights toward year-end campaigns. This is a pivotal moment—an opportunity to begin refining strategies, engaging donors, and aligning our efforts for maximum impact. It’s also a perfect time to pause and reconnect with the colleagues and partners who make our missions possible. The people delivering programs on the ground—our program staff, volunteers, and community collaborators—are often the quiet force behind our fundraising success. I encourage you to reach out, thank them, and listen. And while you're at it, join us at one of our upcoming AFP events to stay inspired and connected: https://community.afpnet.org/afpsbv/events/recentcommunityeventsdashboard
When I stepped into the role of Chapter President, I admit I carried the weight of wondering how I would lead such a dynamic and accomplished group. What I quickly discovered is that leadership here is truly a collective endeavor. Every board member steps in and steps up with wisdom, grace, and commitment. I want to especially recognize Molly Kemper, our past Chapter President, who chaired our extraordinary Symposium in June. Her continued leadership is a model of service and a reminder of the strength of our community.
Looking ahead, I invite you to help us spotlight those who are making a difference. Submissions are now open for National Philanthropy Day—a cherished tradition where we celebrate the individuals and organizations whose generosity transforms lives. Please take a moment to nominate someone whose work inspires you: https://community.afpnet.org/afpsbv/events/npd.
I look forward to seeing many of you at our next gathering, and to continuing this shared journey as we champion philanthropy across our region.
Warm regards,
Elena Ilina Nicklasson
President, AFP Santa Barbara-Ventura Chapter
