🌍✨ CGN at the 2025 International Council of Nurses' Congress in Helsinki, Finland ✨🌍
Last month, CGN had the privilege of joining more than 7,000 nurses from over 130 countries at the International Council of Nurses (ICN) Congress in Helsinki, a global gathering celebrating The Power of Nursing.
It was a week filled with knowledge exchange, cross-cultural dialogue, and new partnerships, all grounded in our shared commitment to advancing health, equity, and global nursing leadership.
We were especially proud to see our Director, Dr. Rebecca Silvers, and several of our global partners present their work, contributing to the rich discussions and innovation that defined the Congress. Throughout the week, we connected with global nursing leaders from the ICN, G4 Alliance, International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists (IFNA), Chief Nursing Officers, and Ministries of Health from around the world.
A particular highlight was Dr. Silvers joining colleagues from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Lærdal to present on the Basic Emergency Care (BEC) Course — a critical global initiative where nurses are uniquely positioned to lead in strengthening emergency care systems, particularly in resource-variable settings.
Events like ICN remind us of the extraordinary impact of global nursing collaboration — and reinforce CGN’s mission to elevate nursing leadership worldwide.

Global Nursing Impact Series 🎉

Nurses and advanced practice providers play a pivotal role in improving global population health. CGN's Global Nursing Impact Series offers a platform to highlight their leadership and impact in advancing health equity and to promote collaboration on these initiatives. Each session will feature a 20-minute presentation by invited speakers, followed by a Q&A.*
The lecture series is held virtually on the second Tuesday of each month and starts promptly at 7:00 am - 7:30 am PST/4:00 pm - 4:30 pm CEST.

| | In August, CGN will feature Dr. MaryJoy Kaimuri, who serves as the Dean of the School of Nursing at Meru University of Science and Technology in Meru, Kenya. Dr. Kaimuri is passionate about educating the next generation of nurses and has been recognized for her achievements in education and capacity-building programs in Kenya. Dr. Kaimuri's ongoing research projects include non-communicable diseases, clinical mentorship, and reproductive health. | | |

Participants will gain valuable tools to enhance cross-cultural collaboration and reduce power imbalances, making it an essential resource for advancing inclusive practices in global nursing.

Dianne Georgetti, MSN, AGPCNP-C, PHN
Nurse Practitioner | UCSF Health
Dianne Georgetti, MSN, PHN, AGPCNP-C, is dedicated to providing RN and NP care to underserved populations in the San Francisco and Los Angeles areas, with a focus on people living with HIV and geriatrics. She has worked with organizations, including UCSF 360 Positive Care, Shanti Project, and San Francisco Community Health Center, creating and leading home-based care models for complex patients with multimorbidity, mental health challenges, addiction disease, trauma, and poor social determinants of health.
Dianne has had the honor of working with the San Francisco Frontline Organizing Group and the UCSF Bay Area North and Central Coast AIDS Education Training Center and has been a guest speaker at the HIV Nursing Network Conference and for the UCSF Institute of Global Health Sciences. She is currently working on completing her DNP at Vanderbilt University.
Dianne has a personal commitment to advancing HIV/AIDS care globally, specifically by addressing gaps in care for those living in Africa. Supported by the UCSF Center for Global Nursing and in partnership with Moi Teaching and Referral hospital in Eldoret, Kenya, Dianne is launching a project to reduce stigma around AIDS through a novel education initiative aimed at healthcare professionals, patients, communities, and policy makers.

Lao Friends Hospital for Children (LFHC) is the only hospital in northern Laos that provides specialty pediatric care, offering free services to underserved families in the region. It focuses on improving access to essential health services while supporting sustainable healthcare through training local providers. Volunteering offers a meaningful way to contribute to the hospital's mission and make a difference in children's lives.
Lao Friends Hospital for Children accepts applications for medical and nursing volunteers throughout the year. All individuals interested in volunteering should be able to spend two months at LFHC during their first visit. Anyone interested is welcome to send their resumes to hr@fwablaos.org.
