A Word from Women in Industry Chair,

Molly Langdon with Stellar Industrial

Happy summer everyone! I hope you are enjoying these beautiful months that bring with them fun, family, friends, and hopefully some relaxation. I know this time goes by so fast so I really make sure that I grasp every moment that I can. I also like to take some of the downtime to look ahead – not in a way that pulls stress, work, or worry towards me – but in a way that gives me some comfort in knowing what lies ahead.

I am very excited for the ISA Fall Summit in September, particularly the Women in Industry track! The Women in Industry Fall Summit committee has worked hard to develop an amazing program around life balance and thriving in all parts of our lives. As women, it is a particular challenge to do this, inherently we want to be everything to everyone – all of the time. We have some amazing speakers lined up as well as some fun activities. I hope you will join us! Until then, make some time this summer for the people and the things that are important to you – and make sure that includes YOU!

What do you like best about WII?

This group of women is the most encouraging and uplifting body of people I have ever worked with. The business competitiveness is left outside the door and we all openly share experiences both professionally and personally. I have developed relationships that help me grow and be a better person all around. As the network has seen tremendous growth over the years, the core principals remain. To encourage and support women in our industry to have the skills and confidence to lean in and own their seat at the table...

Broadcasting Happiness – The Science of Igniting and Sustaining Positive Change

by Michelle Gielan

Have you thought about the impact that your message has on others? Michelle Gielan left her role as a CBS news anchor to become a happiness researcher inspired by the results of “Happy Week.”

“Happy Week” aired during the 2009 recession and focused on the resiliency that people demonstrated instead of focusing on the bleakness of the times. Michelle talks practically about how we can elicit positive change by just tweaking our message.

That's What She Said!

“Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement”

-Golda Meir

Golda Meir was the first and only female Prime Minister of Israel (1969-1974). Prior to becoming Prime Minister, she served as Labor Minister and Foreign Minister. She was educated in Milwaukee and lived in Denver for a time with her sister. She was awarded the James Madison Award for Distinguished Public Service and in 1985 was inducted into the Colorado Women’s Hall of Fame. While a controversial figure, historians define her legacy as being an effective leader of the labor movement and building good relationships with Third World nations but a failure as a Prime Minister. She died of cancer in 1978 at the age of 80.
