Congratulations to the NPAA members who were selected as 2018 Fellows of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP)! Congratulations to Dr. Kala Blakely and
NPAA's own Ian Burge , VP of Membership!
Dr. Kala Blakely was awarded the AANP State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence. This award recognizes an NP in each state who demonstrates excellence in clinical practice.
Mr. Ian Burge was awarded the AANP State Award for Nurse Practitioner Advocate. This award recognizes the efforts of individuals who made a significant contribution toward increasing recognition of the nurse practitioner role.

Conference Spotlight on Alabama Department of Public Health's Cherry Davenport and Joan Styres
Title: Certified Registered Nurse Practitioners as Medical Certifiers on the Alabama Death Certificate 

As a direct result of NPAA's success with the passage of the new Signature Authority legislation, Ms. Cherry Davenport and Ms. Joan Styres will provide instructions for completing the Cause-of-Death Section of the Death Certificate mandated by the National Center for Health Statistics, CDCs.

In addition, they will provide guidelines on completing the certifier's portion of the Alabama Death Certificate
    a. paper death certificates
    b. electronic death certificates

Instructions for Registering for the Electronic Death Registration Systems (EVERS) will also be discussed.
