Worship with Us!
Dear Immanuel Members and Friends,

The day is almost here when our group from Immanuel will be making their way to Tennessee.  Everyone loads up on Sunday July 16th.  Only God knows how the journey will play out, but we will all be changed in ways we cannot foresee.  This trip is made possible because of the generosity of so many people who are a part of the Immanuel family.  Please, hold the group in your prayers starting from the moment you read this message.  Here's a prayer to start you off:

"Gracious Lord, protect and guide the members of Immanuel's mission team.  Open their hearts. Help them to see the world's vulnerabilities as you do.  Make their ways safe and their homecomings joyful.  In Jesus' name we pray.  Amen."

WORSHIP NEWS

CALL COMMITTEE UPDATE

Our Mission Site Profile went LIVE June 1st on the ELCA website!  Now it is out there for the world to see: who we are and what we are looking for as pastoral leadership.  Next steps:  Anyone interested will be contacting our synod, Pastor Steve Kottke, assistant to Bishop in our SE WI Synod.  He will be screening all candidates and in 3-4 weeks will be sending us some names.  Our call committee must do 1st interviews on everyone he sends us.  Then we call back for a 2nd interview any candidates we are interested in.  When we choose ONE person to call, we let Pastor Kottke know. We go to our church council and they will vote on the candidate. Then we will set up a congregational vote.  This is a process. The Call Process Handbook has 92 pages - we are on page 61.  We all need to take a deep breath...and TRUST that the Holy Spirit is guiding us in this process.  **Pray for God to be guiding ALL involved - our future pastor is out there somewhere!

Call Committee

The members of the Call Committee are as follows: Pam Juergens, Judy Guy, Paul Sepe, Trygve Kittelson, Mikella Plitzuweit and Greg Bunge.  Two alternate members: Andy Smith, Trish Fry-Misener.  Please, pray for the work of this committee that they will be guided by the Spirit throughout the process.

Contact Information for the Church Council

The church council, Pastors and staff are eager to be available during the call process. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us for prayer needs, spiritual guidance, help, information about the call process, and fellowship. We pledge to work hard with you and for you in the days ahead. We also promise to keep you well informed as we receive information. Contact the church office if you need a Church Directory. Contact Council Members for Monthly Financial Statements and Council Meeting Minutes.

WORSHIP NEWS

Praise Team:  Rehearses Wednesdays, 7:30 PM

Praise Team members vibrantly lead contemporary worship songs each week at 9:45 and 11:07, help lead special services throughout the year, and represent Immanuel in the community. We are blessed immeasurably by their dedication and superb leadership! Weekly rehearsals are on Wednesday nights at 7:30PM! Some musical training is necessary and members are required to attend rehearsals. Please contact Adam Smith at music@immanuellg.org if you are interested in joining the team!

Prayer Requests

We appreciate all of your prayer requests each week! We want to continue praying for all individuals because we know how powerful prayer is in the lives of so many.  On the first of the new month, we will restart the prayer list.  If someone needs to stay on the list, just let Bethany know by using the worship card found in the weekly bulletin, calling the church office (262.248.4211), emailing Bethany at  secretary@immanuellg.org , or dropping off a note in the church office.  We want your requests, so we can continue praying for those in need.

Welcome Center Volunteers

Do you like to meet people?  We are looking for some fun people to be on the Welcoming Team.  They set up coffee and water in the Welcome Center, greet and help connect visitors to members between services. Have You Heard of Café?

Café is an on-line magazine for young adult women who want to build their faith.   It incorporates a Lutheran perspective for women of Christian faith or simply for any woman who is interested in how faith relates to the issues that women face today.  Readers and writers of Café include pastors, seminary and college students, and other young adult women who use Café as a Bible study resource individually or with their congregation.   An interesting recent article, "Finding Authentic Community", discusses on how hard it is to meet new people and form authentic relationships and shares some ideas on how to make it easier.  To read the full article and to find more articles like this one, visit...  http://www.boldcafe.org/

Tree House

The Tree House is in need of ongoing supplies...these include certain snacks, toys, books, "Lovie" blankets, etc.  Often times, children arrive hungry, thirsty and haven't eaten in a while or may be at The Tree House for several hours.  Items such as individually sealed crackers, juice boxes, bottled water, packaged fruit snacks or other healthy packaged, non-perishable food items would be greatly appreciated.
Also, upon completing the forensic interview, physical exam and/or counseling session, all children are offered a small toy or game.  These items must be NEW in accordance with Children's Hospital rules.  Examples would be board games, action figures, dolls, books, crafts or activities, sports items, stuffed animals, hot wheels, and/or toy trucks.  The cost for these items range between $5 to $10.  Anyone who would like to shop for these items is welcome to.  Another option is to make a monetary contribution.  Checks should be written to the WCAC and sent to W4063 Hwy NN, Elkhorn 53121.  Indicate on the memo line that your donation is for "snacks" or "toys".  You will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes.
Please place any donations you may have in the box marked with the WCAC sign on it which is located in the Gathering Space next to a Poster regarding The WCAC/Tree House.  Please remember that the advocacy center is a division of Children's Hospital of Milwaukee and requires that all toys, books, etc. must be NEW and should not be wrapped.  Check out the website for more information on the WCAC and how you can be of assistance...  www.wcac4kids.org .
If you, your family or members of a small group or other ministry group would like to join in bringing joy to these children and families, please contact Evie Schulz for further information. You will be blessed for being a blessing.

COMING SOON... A Vibrant New Ministry "HEARTS TO CARE"
God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help others... 1 Peter 4:10-11

Mission Statement:   The members and friends of Immanuel Lutheran Church will be shown that they are valued and loved by receiving care in those areas of their lives that they are no longer equipped to handle by allowing this ministry the privilege of tending to their needs with compassion, respect and confidentiality.

Hearts to Care Core Team  will be meeting on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.  Our next meeting will be on July 6th at 1:00pm in the office conference room.  All interested members who wish to become a core team member are encouraged to attend.  Please contact Evie Schulz with any questions you may have.

More Information will be available on Sunday, July 9th and 16th. Come and learn how the Holy Spirit is moving in our congregation.

Care Team

The Care Team will meet again on Wednesday, August 16th at 7:00 pm.   This is an important time for us to share and communicate about the shut-in members we are caring for. All our welcome to attend.  Please contact Kristin Larkin at 414-491-1969 or email  her at  kristinlarkin@yahoo.com  with any questions or concerns. Also, if you have names of members who have indicated they would be in need of a visit from the Care Team please let Kristin or Bethany know and they will be added to the list of people enjoying visits from this wonderful ministry.

"Stitchin' for Kids"

The Wednesday morning quilters have a special project in the works.  They will be making fleece blankets for the children who come to The Tree House (Children's Advocacy Center, Elkhorn) due to suspected physical or sexual abuse and/or neglect.  Age range is anywhere from a couple weeks old to 17 years of age.  This can be a traumatic experience for these precious souls and the Tree House staff has found that if they are able to give them a "Lovie" when they arrive, or leave, it helps calm and sooth the children while the process is taking place.   If you would like to help with this worthwhile endeavor, many hands make the project go quickly besides the fact that it's fun!  Contact Jackie Kuehl for more information.   Another way to be involved is to give a monetary donation to help offset the cost of each blanket ($20 per blanket).  Donations can be placed in an envelope with "Stitching for Kids" on the outside and left with Bethany in the church office.  If you prefer to write a check, make it out to Immanuel Lutheran Church and put "Stitchin' for Kids" on the memo line.   The Wednesday morning quilters plan to have this as an ongoing project.  Last year 300+ children were served at the Tree House...that is a lot of blankets. Thank you for whatever you can do to be of assistance to these children.

Community Connection Meal

Our next Community Connection Meal will be on Thursday, July 20th from 5:15 - 6:30 pm.  Remember all of our Community Meals are FREE to those in our community who are hungry, lonely or need fellowship.  If you know someone who could use fellowship and a meal, invite them to dinner. Want to help? Volunteers are needed to help prep on Wednesday, July 19th starting at 1:00pm and/or Thursday, July 20th starting at 4:00 pm. We would also love folks to donate any kind of cookies for this meal.  Please contact Linda Martin at linnywain0323@gmail.com  if you can volunteer or donate desserts.  We'd like to extend a big thank you to all the people that volunteered in June and contributed the many wonderful desserts our guests enjoyed.  We'd also like to extend a big thank you to the people at the WC Food Pantry, Bodi's Bake Shop, and Sorgs Quality Meats and Sausages for their generous donations to our meal in June.

+     Thank You for your support of this year's Vision Walk!
Thanks be to God for a beautiful day on May 21st and Thank You to all who contributed to the 2017 Vision Walk in Milwaukee!  Marilyn Heiden's team was able to add $738 to the walk's total of $92,000 raised to fund research into the causes, treatments, and cures of blindness worldwide! Her team of 7 walked with over 700 other people along the windy shore of Lake Michigan.  Again, Thank You for your support of this great cause, Marilyn Heiden

+     Dear Immanuel Lutheran Quilters,
We at the Tree House would like to thank you for your continued support and on-going efforts to keep the children being served by the Tree House with comfort blankets and snacks/drinks.  We are so very grateful for your help and commitment to the children who suffer from abuse and neglect in our community.  Your kindness makes a difference in their time of distress and need.  Thank you for your efforts!  Gratefully - Bridget Dickinson

+     Thank you to everyone who came out to support our High School Mission Trip to Tennessee at this year's Spaghetti Dinner and Dessert Auction!  We are happy to say that the fundraiser was a HUGE success!  Your generous donations and contributions made it possible for us to raise just under $5,000!  We are truly blessed to have so many amazing people who took the time to make desserts, create gorgeous quilts and contribute other items for the auction, as well as help with decorations and food prep, get the word out, and be there in support!  Again, Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success and we hope to see you again next year!
