Meet the Presidents with the New York Historical Society
Discover the evolution of the presidency and executive branch. Highlights include the actual Bible used during George Washington’s inauguration in 1789 and a student scrapbook from 1962 chronicling John F. Kennedy’s leadership during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Discovery of a Rodin
Learn how a simple art cataloging project evolved into a search for a mysterious piece’s provenance, and became one of the biggest art finds in recent history.
Mallory Mortillaro serves as the Curator of Collections for the Hartley Dodge Foundation in Madison, NJ and uncovered a Rodin masterpiece that had been lost to the art world since the 1930’s. This event will take place on Zoom, and registration is required. Please register here.

Pre-Retirement Seminar presented by the Social Security Administration
Navigating and planning for the next chapter of life can be confusing. This pre-retirement seminar, led by a Social Security Administration staff member, provides an overview of the types of benefits that social security offers. Adult Summer Reading Bingo Game Now Live
Reading contests for children have been a staple of the Library’s summer reading program for years. But why let kids have all the fun? Adults and teens in 9th grade and up can play our Reading BINGO game for adults and enter a raffle to win a brand-new Kindle! You can get the instructions and download a BINGO board by clicking here. Or stop by the library reference desk to pick up a form.
Fourth of July Quiz
Do you know who the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence was? Who wrote Yankee Doodle? How many hot dogs Americans will consume this 4th of July? Stop by the Library to test your patriotic knowledge, and pick up your Independence Day quiz! Everyone who attempts the Quiz will take home a flag lapel pin.

Free Covid Test Kits Courtesy of Westchester County
Westchester County has provided the Pelham Library with free Covid-19 home-testing kits for distribution to our community. Residents may pick up kits during library hours while supplies last. Each box contains two nasal-swab antigen tests. Please do not come to the library if you have tested positive for Covid-19 or are experiencing symptoms.

Adult Book Clubs Continue on Zoom!
The After-Dark Book Club will meet on Thursday, July 7 to discuss The Lost Apothecary by Sarah Penner and on Thursday, August 11 to discuss The Midnight Library by Matt Haig.
The 2nd-Friday Book Club meets on Friday, July 8 to discuss The Tender Bar by J.R. Moehringer and on Friday, August 19 to discuss Last Summer at the Golden Hotel by Elyssa Friedman.

Kids Summer Reading Program
Join the Library's Summer Reading Program. Register on our website or come to the Library and we'll register for you. You can even click here to watch a YouTube video that explains how to register. Read or listen to any book(s) you like and earn points to redeem for the following prizes:
  • 60 points or 1 hour = one cookie from Little Bird Cookie Co.
  • 180 points or 3 hours = one slice of pizza from 4 Corners Pizza
  • 300 points or 5 hours = one ice cream cone from Flour Power

So Let's Sew!
Join us for a sewing class just for kids, with a new project every week! Solange Bitol Hansen will have sewing machines on hand and projects at the ready. This class is capped at 6 people, and participants may only register for one session. We will keep a waitlist for each session. Maritime Aquarium Touch Tank
Dive into "oceans of possibility," and discover crabs, whelks, clams, and more when the Maritime Aquarium visits with their tidepool Touch Tank! This event will be held outdoors. Bring the whole family!

In-Person Coding for Tweens
Learn the basics of coding with a different activity each week. No previous coding experience required. For grades 3 to 6. This program is in-person at the library so please bring your own fully-charged laptop. Registration is required. To register, please email kpalovick@wlsmail.org.

Big plans for fun in the sun this 4th of July? Come in to make your own patriotic paper plate sun visor! This craft is for kids ages 4 and up. This event will take place outside. In case of inclement weather, we will move indoors.

Pirate (Treasure) Scavenger Hunt
Ahoy-mateys! What better way to bring in the summer season than with pirates? Visit the reference desk to pick up your pirate-themed scavenger hunt! Search high and low throughout the Library to find all the hidden tools of the pirate trade. Return your completed scavenger hunt to the reference desk to exchange for your share of pirate booty! Aaaargh you up for the challenge?

Outdoor Story Time
Join us for our popular story time for infants and toddlers outside on our front lawn. Story time is designed to enhance early literacy skills and features diverse children's books in which all children can see themselves represented... plus we have a lot of fun! In case of bad weather, the event will be cancelled. Please call the Library or check our website that morning.

eResource of the Month: DMV Practice Tests
Summer is a great time to take a road test. Through the Westchester Library System, we have an awesome resource for future drivers and anyone needing a refresher. Use this link to access practice tests, download manuals, and get more familiar with the road. We're rooting for you!
Hours and Services

  • The library building is open to patrons for browsing and checking out materials. Computers, printer, and study areas are also available to patrons. Social distancing and wearing masks is greatly appreciated.
  • We also continue to offer contactless, curbside pickup (you can place holds using the Westchester Library System app or through our online catalog.)
  • You can also visit our digital library and select ebooks, audiobooks through Overdrive and Hoopla or stream movies through Kanopy.
  • Our librarians are always available to answer reference questions, give book recommendations and provide technology help. Notary services are available by appointment.
