2025 Maryland Digital Opportunity

The 2025 Maryland Digital Opportunity Summit on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the Silver Spring Civic Building. This year's theme is "Investing in Maryland’s Future: Invest Today. Empower Tomorrow. Fueling Economic Growth and Workforce Innovation Through Digital Opportunity.” Content tracks include: AI & Cybersecurity; Workforce Development; Infrastructure & Access; Community Engagement; Green Digital Inclusion; Policy & Advocacy; Innovative Local Programs; Skill Sharing & Networking. The 2025 summit will bring together 200+ leaders across government, education, healthcare, technology, and community organizations. Together, we’ll advance broadband access, digital skills development, and economic opportunity for all Marylanders.

2025 Digital Equity Champion Nominations

The annual Maryland Digital Equity Champion Awards celebrate the individuals and organizations advancing digital equity across the state. These awards recognize the contributions of digital navigators, practitioners, educators, and direct service providers who are building capacity and driving meaningful impact in their communities. Awardees will receive a complimentary ticket and be honored at the summit on October 15th. Nomination period closes September 8th.

Marylanders Online in Action

Mapping Marylanders Online's Digital Inclusion Efforts

UME Marylanders Online has released a new brochure detailing the program's impact around the state. Marylanders Online has established 190 partnerships with organizations and individuals that are working towards digital inclusion and digital equity in their communities. Partners include state and local government agencies, UME offices covering all Maryland jurisdictions, libraries, the nationwide Extension network, educational institutions, workforce agencies, senior centers, faith-based organizations, and community organizations working to integrate digital literacy into their services. In FY25, Marylanders Online served 10,813 individuals through 309 classes and 24 events. Since launching, the Marylanders Online Tech Helpline has assisted with 25,656 calls, providing 9% of callers with bilingual support.

Teen Tech Trail Blazers

Baltimore County teens have joined Tech Trail Blazers, a five-week volunteer program that started July 8th at local county senior centers. Every week, local teens are on site helping older adults build their digital skills by teaching them how to use their laptops, phones, and other digital devices. This initiative is a partnership between UME Marylanders Online, Baltimore County 4-H, the County, and local teens.

UMD Facilities Management

In collaboration with the University of Maryland's Facilities Management Department, Marylanders Online developed and piloted a bilingual class for 20 Facilities Department employees, teaching them how to use essential digital tools like the internet, email, Dual, iPhone/iPad devices, and Elevate. The pilot included 20 participants speaking English, Spanish, Amharic, and French.

MACo Conference

Marylanders Online will be attending the 2025 Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Summer Conference taking place August 13-16 in Ocean City. This year's conference theme is "Funding the Future: The Evolving Role of Local Government."

Maryland State Fair

University of Maryland Extension - Marylanders Online tech educators and digital navigators will also be setting up a table at the upcoming Maryland State Fair to share information about the project's no-cost programs, services, and partnership opportunities.

Digital Inclusion Resources

New Resource: MONET Curriculum

The Marylanders Online Navigator Education Toolkit (MONET) is a new resource from UME Marylanders Online in partnership with INFO that offers a scalable, module-based curriculum designed to train digital navigators to confidently deliver digital skills training within their communities. MONET integrates online and in-person formats with practical application exercises, ready-to-use lesson plans, and implementation support. Learn more.

MONET is currently accessible to digital navigators based in Maryland, with plans to expand access through the University of Maryland’s ELMS-Canvas Open Learning platform. MONET is offered under a Creative Commons license, enabling organizations and individuals to use the material with attribution given to the University of Maryland Extension Marylanders Online.

eGovernment Resources

Marylanders can learn how to apply online for government services through a series of user-friendly eGovernment learning modules. Find simple, step-by-step instructions to apply for driver's licenses, food stamps, Temporary Cash Assistance, and other government benefits. View the resources.

Asset Mapping Maryland

If you are an organization that provides digital skills classes, wi-fi, tech support, training, devices, tablets, hotspots, or other digital services, please share your resources for inclusion in Maryland’s digital asset map. Submit a resource.

Tech Support Helpline


The Marylanders Online Helpline is staffed by a team of skilled Digital Navigators who provide free computer and technology support by phone or email. They can also assist callers with finding digital skills classes, resources, digital device troubleshooting, and more.
