July is National Validation Table Month

Just like June wasn't really National General Ledger Cleanup Month, I made this up too.

Validation tables contain the data making up the selection lists for many of the fields in ADP Workforce Now. For example, the Department table contains the codes displayed in the Home Department field on the Position page in ADP Workforce Now.

If you have data in your Validation Tables that is inconsistent across company codes or stale codes, it's time to clean them up. The best part of this project is that you and I can work together to accomplish this. We can "eat the elephant one bite at a time". This means we do not have to review every validation table at the same time. We can look at a few, clean them up, take a break, and come back later to do the next table.

The Bridge

ADP provides The Bridge online community as a service to its clients to help them ask payroll, HR, tax and compliance-related questions of each other, stay informed of HMRC updates, exchange tips and ideas with peers, and learn from industry and subject matter experts.

I strongly recommend bookmarking The Bridge's url so that if Workforce Now is down for scheduled or unscheduled maintenance, you can get updates on the outage!

IRS Increases Mileage Rate

The Internal Revenue Service announced an increase in the optional standard mileage rate for the final 6 months of 2022. Taxpayers may use the optional standard mileage rates to calculate the deductible costs of operating an automobile for business and certain other purposes.

2023 Planning

With 2022 well under way, it is time to start thinking about 2023. I will go into greater detail as 2023 gets closer, but here is a preview of things you can do to prepare for the new year:

Confirm your 2023 Holiday Schedule. This allows you to update your Holiday Program in Workforce Now as well as adjust your 2023 Payroll Schedule.
Think about new services that can automate your processes or improve your employee experience.
Verify you have a signed Company Handbook for each active employee. If you do not, we can work together to rollout your Handbook in Workforce Now and collect the signatures electronically.
Update addresses for employees. You can do this through Employee Self-Service to take the stress off your Human Resources Team.
