Brigitte
From gourd art to furniture pieces, Brigitte doesn’t specialize in just one art form. Six years ago, her artwork first landed at The Abode while working on consignment developing seasonal pieces such as painted eggs. Her artistic career also led her to assist in illustrating two children’s books. Today, her real love focuses on painting furniture using Annie Sloan Chalk Paint®. Some of her earlier furniture pieces featured scenic beaches and coastlines on tabletops. You may spot some of her artistic hand on various signs around the shop. To resist busyness means to disconnect and re-engage. We get so caught up in the routine of life that we forget the freedom we find in nature. Nature stimulates the senses and calls us away from hectic schedules. We see glimpses of what life in the wild feels like, watching the wolf roam free, or the eagle sore high. Animals survive on instinct and intuition, yet they know their freedom in life. They feel the power behind what it means to truly live free, and their raw nature gives us a reminder to reclaim our freedom. So let us remember to put down our phones, and take breaks in our weekly schedules, to live free and pursue happiness.
