It’s always nice to be busy as it helps the time go by fast. The Chamber office has been bustling the last few weeks as we have promoted a number of great events. With no break in the action, we have a few more on the calendar for the weeks ahead. But WOW it’s July already – we are halfway through 2022 – time certainly does fly!
With Brother’s closed for vacation, we sadly had to put off our regular scheduled monthly Breakfast Club Networking in July. BUT have no concerns- we will be back with a big splash for the August meeting. So be sure to mark your calendars now for Thursday, August 4, at 8:00 am!
The Chamber Annual Meeting was held recently at the Four Points by Sheraton and it was a huge success. With great anticipation, we welcomed Cmdr. Billie J Farrell of the USS Constitution to join us as our keynote speaker – and she did not disappoint. Cmdr. Farrell’s talk was educational and informative as well as inspirational. She very humbly blushed at the standing ovation she received!
During the business portion of the evening, we recognized a number of Chamber member anniversaries as follows:
The following Chamber awards were also presented:
Jim Chisholm Business Person of the Year – Bob Sardella – Sardella Signs
There was the election of directors and officers, highlighted by the welcoming of two new directors onto the Board - Mr. Jeff Worth, President/CEO of Wakefield CO-Operative Bank and Rob Brogna Director Media Relations & Social Media, Melrose Wakefield Hospital .
Chamber Comedy Night – Close to a 100 people attended the Multi Chamber Comedy Night. Ten local area Chambers of Commerce came together to celebrate our various communities and our commonalities as Chambers each serving our own communities as best we can. It was a great show of unity and strength. We were also honored to welcome the mayor of Waltham in our audience who joined us in the evening festivities. Our comedians for the night - Mitch Stinson, Christine Hurley and the star of the show, Lenny Clarke all outdid themselves to entertain our group – they did not disappoint. If you’re reading and were one those in attendance, you know firsthand what a hilarious night it was!
