DONATE HERE TO SUPPORT OUR MISSION

Sharing the love and hope of Christ while empowering our neighbors with education, employment, and crisis support.

Dear Friends of The CARE Center,

We hope everyone is staying cool and having a fantastic summer! Our month has been filled with plenty of community activities, enriching programs, and exciting plans for the upcoming months. Keep reading to stay informed about all the wonderful things we have in store for the rest of the season!

First things first, we are excited to begin our “When Helping Hurts” book study on Tuesday, August 6th. We can’t wait to dive into the upcoming meaningful discussions and reflections. This is a great opportunity to connect with others in the community, grow together and learn how to be the hands and feet of Jesus while serving in our community. If you’d still like to register to join, fill out this short registration form now!

We also have great news: the 2024-2025 application for our Bags of Blessings program is now open! This important initiative delivers food to children for weekends and extended breaks from school, ultimately allowing the children to take their focus off their hunger crisis and put it back on their schoolwork and learning. Through this program, administrators have even reported an increase in school day attendance, test scores and a decrease in behavioral issues. If your family could benefit from Bags of Blessings, please apply here. If you would like more information about getting involved and helping to deliver Bags of Blessings on a weekly or monthly basis, please contact us at info@thecare-center.org.

Finally, we have some exciting opportunities for available internship and mentorship positions. We’ll be welcoming a few select student interns for the upcoming semester. Ideal candidates should be bachelor’s or master’s students pursuing a degree in social services. We are also searching for male mentors for the school day and our after-school programs, who will be instrumental in providing guidance and support to the youth in our community. Please see details below for more information about interning or mentoring with us.

Looking ahead, we hope everyone has a smooth back-to-school transition this August! Be on the lookout for lots more exciting news and events to come. We deeply appreciate your continued support. Your involvement and generosity towards our ministries and programs make a tremendous difference in our community!

Blessings,

Resources & Opportunities

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for September 7th because we have an exciting event for our local high school students! We’re creating an invaluable one-stop shop for both parents and students to learn about employment, internships, and financial preparation for college.

This day will be focused on empowerment and education. The event will provide excellent opportunities for local employers to meet the community and for you to learn about employment opportunities. Our various training sessions will also empower families to prepare for college alongside their students!

“Don’t Fret Just Prep” will take place at The CARE Center’s Ministry Building (5414 Main Dr. in New Hope). Parents and students are encouraged to come and go as they please from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Local employers wishing to set up a table or get involved, please contact Aneisha at aneisha.nolen@thecare-center.org or call our office at 256.723.2271

As you all know, our community suffered a great loss with the passing of our dear friend and volunteer, Gregg Berens. Gregg championed this golf tournament for several years to support our mission, each year raising more money than the previous year. Unfortunately, he left this earthly home on 2/28/24. We have decided to honor Gregg and his tremendous dedication to our mission by renaming this fundraising event the “Gregg Berens Memorial, I Golf Because I CARE Tournament.” Let’s make 2024 the best year yet, and make Gregg proud!

For more information about sponsoring this year’s tournament, please reach out to abridges@thecare-center.org. To sign up a team to play in this year’s tournament, register HERE.

Can’t wait to see you on the green!

Food Pantry Wish List

Our food pantry shelves are a little bare right now, so as you go grocery shopping, would you be willing to pick up some extra items for our Food Pantry? To make it more convenient for you, we have an Amazon Wish List where you can order items and have them shipped directly to our Business Office. All donations help ensure food stability for our neighbors during difficult times. Thank you for your support!
