MCCC hosted the 2nd Annual Gatherings of Collaboratives Addressing ACEs: Growing Resilient Communities in June, in partnership with Douglas County Horizon Public Health and MN Department of Human Services. A combined total of
250 attendees
had the opportunity to attend one of these events, listen to speakers, and
gain the tools they need to develop and implement community-wide approaches to build a resilient community.

At both events, Keynote speaker,
Dr. Wendy Ellis (DrPH), Project Director of Building Community Resilience (BCR), shared tools she has developed through her work with BCR.
The BCR collaborative and its networks are implementing a model based on her research in
designing a strategic process for child health systems to address Adverse Childhood Experiences occurring in Adverse Community Environments --- the “Pair of ACEs.” To learn more,

MCCC held its second annual Summer Social event in June. The purpose of the event is to
come together to recognize individuals and organizations that have gone above and beyond in making the world a better place for children.
This year, MCCC honored six remarkable Champions for Children – Susan Beaulieu, David Cournoyer, Becky Dale, Lowell Johnson, Joanne Mooney, and Dan Seeman. MCCC was pleased to present the Buron-Campbell Innovation Award to Peacemaker Resources, an organization building safe, healthy,
supportive communities for parents and children in Bemidji and beyond.

Beyond Trauma: Applying Trauma to the Human Experience

The Great Lakes Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC) is proud to partner with MACMHP and Washburn Center for Children to bring this dynamic day of learning. Through presentations from experts in trauma and its impact on individual and community health, attendees will gain knowledge on how to apply the science to the human experience. Dr. Mark Sander, Resmaa Menakem, and Tyler Reitzner will provide engaging presentations that will provide deep knowledge of ACEs, Neuroscience, Attachment, Cultural-Responsiveness, Historical and Developmental Trauma and Somatic Healing. The day's events will be hosted by Lauren Neitz, Training Institute Director for Washburn Center.

The day will end with a panel made up of the presenters and moderated by Lauren Neitz. The panel discussion will be designed for attendees to work through specific questions that they have around practically applying the knowledge to their work.
