President's Message
Amy Natoli,  CPM®, RPA
President, IREM Maryland Chapter

For a lot of us, summer months tend to be a bit slower - people are on vacation (or are day-dreaming about a vacation!) -  and it's hard to think about planning for 2019.  However, your Executive Council at IREM Maryland is already at work thinking about next year.  We're reviewing our committees and our leadership, and we are looking for the next generation of leaders.  Are you ready to try something new?  If you haven't joined a committee, perhaps now is the time.  Are you on a committee and are ready to become a committee chair?  Perhaps you'd like to be President.  Our chapter has a defined Leadership Track that involves chairing the committees of Education and Membership before becoming an officer:  Secretary/Treasurer, Incoming President, and President.  To be on the Executive Council and to be an officer, you must hold your CPM ® designation.  So if you're close to obtaining your CPM ® , make this your goal:  earn your designation and set your sites on becoming President!  It is not a one-man job - we have a great team to support your development as a leader.  Worried about speaking in front of everyone?  Join Maryland Speaks, our Toastmasters Club, and practice your skills in a comfortable environment.  It will be one of the most personally and professionally rewarding things you can do for yourself.  Get in touch with me at to find out how you can join the Leadership Track!
IREM Spotlight: June Clothing Drive
On behalf of IREM Maryland, the Community Outreach Committee, and Maryland New Directions, we'd like to thank you all for your generous donations.  The Professional Clothing Drive held at our Happy Hour at 10 Light Street on June 19 th was a tremendous success!

Stefanie Hopkins, Community Relations Manager for Maryland New Directions, reported that we donated over 25 bags; totaling over 500 items to their organization.
Maryland New Directions is a 45-year-old award winning non-profit organization offering no-cost employment coaching and specialized career training programs for Baltimore area residents.   Their holistic approach and valuable employer partnerships create opportunity for long-term careers and remarkable outcomes that include industry recognized credentials, a livable wage, and an impressive employment retention rate of 82.5% for their graduates.

When a person successfully completes Maryland New Directions' program they are empowered to obtain and retain employment; it's not just good for the individual and their family, but for the whole community.
