Herkimer Working Solutions Success
By Herkimer Working Solutions Career Center Manager Nicole Wilson
Dakota was a Herkimer County College Corps intern during the summer of 2024. As a biology major with a wild education minor, Dakota was mainly looking for exposure in any position that would utilize his education. The College Corps program out of Herkimer Working Solutions collaborated closely with the Herkimer County Wastewater Treatment Plant to place Dakota in a 200-hour paid internship for the summer.
Dakota successfully completed his internship and both he and his supervisor at the plant expressed how great of a learning experience it was for Dakota. Following his graduation in December of 2024, Dakota returned to the Herkimer area and started looking for a way to start his career.
Fast-forward to Spring 2025 – the Wastewater Treatment Plant had a position open up that was similar to the work he was performing in his internship. Dakota applied and was chosen to fill the position! Herkimer Working Solutions heard from the Wastewater Treatment Plant Director who expressed how impactful the 2024 internship was to Dakota’s success.
Congratulations, Dakota!
