Todd Talks - The Viera Company

PRESIDENTS CORNER

Don't Wait for a Board Meeting

Eva M. Rey, President

Central Viera Community Association

Let’s talk about HOA management companies. First and foremost, June 13th was International Community Association Manager Day and we have some great Community Association Managers (CAMs) in Viera. They are very deserving of their own recognition day as the job they do is very difficult and thankless. They certainly get more people yelling at them than they get complimenting them. So, if you have a chance, make sure you let them know that you appreciate them. You may not always agree with them and you might even get frustrated with the bureaucracy of HOA processes every now and again, but, CAMs work very hard to make sure your neighborhood runs smoothly.

PRESIDENTS CORNER

River Lakes Conservation Area

Eva M. Rey, President

Central Viera Community Association

If you are a hiker or a nature buff, one of the places that I like to encourage people to visit is our little section of the River Lakes Conservation Area (RLCA). There is a trailhead just outside of the Viera boundary where you can park and explore the natural, Florida native areas near here. Now, the entire RLCA is a much larger recreational area and I have included in this post both the map of the entire RLCA and the map of just our trailhead area. Here is the webpage with more information regarding RLCA access and use:  https://www.sjrwmd.com/lands/recreation/river-lakes/

BREVARD BEACH SAFETY

The summer season in full swing, and thousands of locals and tourists are visiting our Brevard County beaches. While most Floridians are taught from a very young age the importance of water safety and sun protection, it is important to remind ourselves of exactly what we should be looking at when heading to the beach. But first, what makes Florida beaches, specifically our Brevard beaches, different from others? Well, we are the closest state in the contiguous United States to the equator which means the sun’s rays are more powerful here. Due to the unique landscape of our beaches, we are well known for the waves created here, which can lead to rougher conditions for swimmers. We also have a wide variety of wildlife including sea turtles, jellyfish, and multiple species of sharks.
