Yankton is a community many of us care about deeply and want to see thrive. The road to success, though, is often difficult and uncomfortable. We may have different ideas than our neighbors, and expressing those differences can prove challenging, but the collaboration between people with different ideas is likely to yield something beautiful. As the whole world is navigating changes and dealing with hardships, feelings are running high. That does not mean we need to shy away from having conversations and putting in the work to make meaningful change in our community, though.
At River City Domestic Violence Center, we are working hard to ensure we are able to provide education and survivor services to everyone, regardless of their beliefs. We believe advocating for an end to interpersonal violence benefits the entire community and we hope that you will consider joining us at our awareness event, Walk A Mile In Their Shoes, on Saturday, August 13th. Every community member plays a part in interrupting the cycle of abuse and trauma.
It is up to us to make and keep Yankton the beautiful, safe place we can all love.
