June in Review

Last month, River City Domestic Violence Center watched several survivors find safe, affordable housing to begin a new chapter in! Not every survivor journey is positive, but the happy endings keep us motivated. We are grateful for all of the support, encouragement, and partnerships.

Community, Social Change, and Safety

Yankton is a community many of us care about deeply and want to see thrive. The road to success, though, is often difficult and uncomfortable. We may have different ideas than our neighbors, and expressing those differences can prove challenging, but the collaboration between people with different ideas is likely to yield something beautiful. As the whole world is navigating changes and dealing with hardships, feelings are running high. That does not mean we need to shy away from having conversations and putting in the work to make meaningful change in our community, though.

At River City Domestic Violence Center, we are working hard to ensure we are able to provide education and survivor services to everyone, regardless of their beliefs. We believe advocating for an end to interpersonal violence benefits the entire community and we hope that you will consider joining us at our awareness event, Walk A Mile In Their Shoes, on Saturday, August 13th. Every community member plays a part in interrupting the cycle of abuse and trauma.

It is up to us to make and keep Yankton the beautiful, safe place we can all love.

July Spotlight: Freedom From Violence

See our billboard in the wild on the 900 Block of Broadway! Each month, we work to spread the word about our services and presence in the community.

Let the Transformation Begin

This month, TMS Security, in financial partnership with the Yankton Community Foundation and the Parker Grant, will be painting, updating, and stocking the toy room! Our hope is that the new toy area will allow parents piece of mind that their children are able to play in a safe, trauma-informed area, which will allow advocates to work with Survivors on their goals while the children play.

RCDVC Appreciates our Doners & Sponsors

The Knights of Columbus presented River City Domestic Violence Center with $1000 to keep providing services to victims of interpersonal violence. We are beyond grateful for the generous donations that enable us to serve our community.

Phillis Smith and Lola Waldner did some shopping! Thanks to these beautiful ladies, our pantry was stocked with protein packed, family friendly food to keep all of the tummies in our safe haven happy. To top off the glorious donation, they presented us with cozy shirts to give survivors who may not have anything comfy. Thank you, Phillis and Lola!
