Reaching Our World For Christ
From Your Associational Mission Strategist
This year’s overarching theme for the Southern Baptist Convention was “The Gospel Above All”. The North American Mission Board began an Evangelistic campaign led by Johnny Hunt this year and the theme is “Who’s Your One”. I am very excited to see a greater focus from NAMB and our President of our Convention, J.D. Greear, that is encouraging us to stay focused on the Great Commission! Think about this, there are about 14.9 million people that belong to a Southern Baptist Church and if ten percent of those win one person to the Lord, we would see approximately 5 million people born into the Kingdom of God! Let’s get this closer to home. Last year’s HBA’s ACR report listed that we had approximately 2,400 people attending our churches on an average basis. If half of those that attend our churches led one person to Christ this year, we would see 1,200 people born into the Kingdom of God. This really excites me to think that we could see than many people won to the Lord in our communities. I truly believe that our association of churches would experience an excitement that we have never had before. We certainly need to be focusing a lot more on the Gospel and we shouldn’t have to come up with an Evangelistic emphasis in our Convention, because this should be the way we automatically live out our daily lives. In his book, “The Gospel Above All”, J.D. Greear writes: “When people in our communities think about and talk about us, they should think about the Gospel. It should be both the ultimate point and the basis of every ministry and endeavor of our churches”. May we commit our lives in making the Gospel a priority in our personal lives and our churches.

Please pray for our two mission teams as we go and share the Gospel in North Georgia and Pittsburgh, PA. Our N. Georgia mission team will be involved in a lot of different ministries in Helen, GA. We will be holding a Day Camp in a Campground, ministering to children in an apartment complex, and doing street ministry in downtown Helen. I can’t wait to see how God will use this team as we tell others the Good News of the Gospel! Our Pittsburgh Mission team will be serving with the Faithbridge Community Church. We will be working with this church as they are preparing for a large block party that will hopefully reach many people that will hear the Gospel! We covet your prayers and we look forward to sharing with you all the things God has done through these mission endeavors.
