The International Center was privileged to co-host a reception, along with the Office of International Affairs at IUPUI and Indiana University Bloomington, in honor of the 2019 IU Cohort of Mandela Washington Fellows.
This year’s Fellows come from 17 sub-Saharan African countries and have expertise in a wide variety of areas including women's rights, disability advocacy, journalism, youth development, and human rights.
The reception took place on June 24 at the Heron School of Art and Design on the IUPUI campus where the hosts and Mandela Fellows enjoyed dignitary remarks and
networked to connect the fellows to resources in Indiana that would help further their efforts when they return home after the fellowship.
They are participating in a Leadership in Civic Engagement Institute delivered at IUPUI between June 19 and July 5 and Indiana University Bloomington from July 5 to July 27.
