The International Center is a catalyst to inform, convene and connect public, private and civic global objectives in Indiana.
The International Center was privileged to co-host a reception, along with the Office of International Affairs at IUPUI and Indiana University Bloomington, in honor of the 2019 IU Cohort of Mandela Washington Fellows. This year’s Fellows come from 17 sub-Saharan African countries and have expertise in a wide variety of areas including women's rights, disability advocacy, journalism, youth development, and human rights.
The reception took place on June 24 at the Heron School of Art and Design on the IUPUI campus where the hosts and Mandela Fellows enjoyed dignitary remarks and networked to connect the fellows to resources in Indiana that would help further their efforts when they return home after the fellowship.

They are participating in a Leadership in Civic Engagement Institute delivered at IUPUI between June 19 and July 5 and Indiana University Bloomington from July 5 to July 27.
The International Center’s Global Impression Award, now in its second year, celebrates emerging Indiana leaders whose work impacts the state on a global scale. This year’s honoree will be announced at the International Citizen of the Year Award dinner on October 8 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.

Nominations are accepted through July 15. Nominees should be 42 years old or younger on October 8. The nomination form should include a current resume and/or CV and/or public LinkedIn profile. Press clippings and letters of recommendation if available may also be submitted. The three award finalists will be notified in August and invited to attend the award dinner as guests of The International Center.
For the second year in a row, The International Center was honored to receive the Apex Benefits Monumental Challenge award in the small business category. This wellness initiative awards points based on employee participation in the Indianapolis Monumental Mile, Indy Half Marathon at Fort Ben, and CNO Financial Group Indianapolis Monumental Marathon.

The Center applauds staff and family members for their efforts in running, walking, and volunteering in order to bring back the Monumental Challenge trophy. The 2019 challenge started strong with the Monumental Mile on June 6, and the team is already training for a three-peat this year!
