Arrhythmia Alliance & AF Association have partnered with Happitech, WPP Sudler & Bug Labs to launch Heart for Heart. This initiative invites people to participate in the world’s largest crowdsourced heart health initiative by inviting them to contribute their heart rhythm data using the free Heart for Heart iPhone App.
Our aim for World Heart Rhythm Week ( 5-11 June 2017) was to:
Make one million people Pulse Rhythm Aware * Take 10,000 pulse rhythm checks * Identify 1,000 people with an irregular heart rhythm * Through 100 Know Your Pulse events
RESULTS SO FAR: Just through our Social Media sources, we made more than ONE MILLIONpeople Pulse Rhythm Aware. We distributed over 600 Arrhythmia Alliance information packsto Healthcare Professionals in the UK plus many more internationally. More than 15 countriesparticipated in World Heart Rhythm Week. 200+ Know Your Pulseevents have taken place in UK hospitals and GP practices. Collecting and collating pulse check data is ongoing however we know that we have surpassed over 10,000 pulse checks!
By making more people arrhythmia aware you have helped to highlight the importance of identifying and referring new patients who are unaware they may be walking around with a potentially debilitating or fatal arrhythmia. If you have yet to share the results of your event please email Barbara as soon as possible.
Thank you and look forward to working with you again for GLOBAL AF AWARE WEEK 20-26 November 2017.

Interview with Trudie Lobban MBE, Founder & Trustee of Arrhythmia Alliance
Our Founder Trudie Lobban (pictured left) discusses Arrhythmia Alliance’s past, present and future in this interview with BMI Healthcare.
"I want everybody to become pulse rhythm aware. We would achieve our goal of saving thousands of lives, reducing AF-related stroke, stopping unnecessary hospital admissions by encouraging cardiac tests. It is something that is so simple; we do not need equipment, it will not cost anything, it will save money and more importantly it will save lives."

Screening strategies for atrial fibrillation: a systematic review and cost-effectiveness analysis
A national screening programme for atrial fibrillation is likely to represent a cost-effective use of resources, with systematic opportunistic screening more likely to be cost-effective than systematic population screening. Nurse pulse palpation or modified blood pressure monitors would be appropriate screening tests, with confirmation by diagnostic 12-lead electrocardiography interpreted by a trained GP, with referral to a specialist in the case of an unclear diagnosis. Implementation strategies to operationalise uptake of systematic opportunistic screening in primary care should accompany any screening recommendations.
