5 Tips for Reducing Plastic this School Year

  1. Choose reusable cloth snack bags, stainless steel or glass containers, or beeswax wraps instead of plastic containers, bags or wrap.
  2. Skip individually wrapped snacks and buy in bulk—portion into your own containers for a plastic-free alternative.
  3. Choose wooden pencils, refillable pens, or metal mechanical pencils over plastic versions.
  4. Look for cardboard folders, paper binders, or metal scissors instead of plastic ones.
  5. Shop at thrift stores or school supply swaps for gently used clothes, backpacks, lunch boxes, and other gear.
