Sorren’s journey at Justin Bartlett Animal Rescue began tragically when a hurricane displaced her and her seven puppies from Louisiana to Florida. While her puppies found homes, Sorren remained at the rescue, hoping for an adoption that never came, as potential adopters passed her by due to her older age.
Despite her longing for a family, the rescue staff cared for her like their own. Sorren cherished every moment with people. Her tail would wag eagerly during walks, her eyes bright with hope and joy, especially when given a toy to play with. For five long years, Sorren remained at the rescue, then came the devastating diagnosis of lymphoma. With little time left, Sorren needed a hospice foster, a place to spend her final days away from the cold confines of the cage. Courtney, store manager of Theory Palm Beach and a sponsor of the rescue answered the urgent call.
Sorren had never known the warmth of a home until Courtney welcomed her. In those precious days, Sorren discovered the comfort of a soft bed, the soothing touch of a gentle hand, and the companionship she had yearned for her entire life. But as fate would have it, Sorren’s time was fleeting. On June 14, 2024, surrounded by newfound love, Sorren succumbed to her illness, her gentle spirit leaving a void in the hearts of those who had come to cherish her.
Sorren’s journey emphasizes the critical role of foster care and adoption. Foster caregivers like Courtney make a difference, offering solace and joy to animals in need, ensuring they know the warmth of a home and the kindness of human companionship, even for a short time. Their compassion is a beacon of hope for animals like Sorren, reminding us of the power of opening our hearts and homes to those who need it most.
