Skookum Assists as Fort Meade and U.S. Army Gear Up for New Combat Fitness Test Recently, Skookum’s Supply Support Activity (SSA) employees supported the Fort Meade Logistic Readiness Center (LRC), Property Book Office (PBO), with the issuing of the new Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) Equipment. The fielding included 27 Army Unit Customers, and 101 pieces of specialized equipment. The outside area of Bldg. 2240 was utilized as a three-stage area for pick-up, which included Joint Inventory of Equipment, signing of Chain of Custody Documents and Loading Area. Our employees also went above and beyond and assisted the units throughout the post as well as the National Security Agency (NSA), with Forklift Support at their location for downloading of equipment. This is the second fielding within six months that Skookum has assisted its government counterpart with completing, in a timely and efficient manner. Special recognition to Rory Winiarski and Rocco Rozzi , for volunteering for the mission and providing great customer service to our Warfighting Soldiers and the LRC Staff.

Coast Guard and Skookum Partnership Extended Another 5 Years at Curtis Bay, Maryland

On June 1 st Skookum began yet another Base Year with four Option Years, for a total of five years of Facility Maintenance at the Coast Guard Yard at Curtis Bay, which is affectionately referred to as the “Yard”. While abiding by the various Stay-at-Home orders, the Skookum and Coast Guard teams successfully negotiated the price and terms of this new contract using virtual meetings, which has become a staple in today’s post-COVID-19 best practices. Thanks to the great partnering that has occurred over the past few years, negotiations concluded rather quickly despite having to conduct them over the internet. Skookum began providing service to the Yard back in December 2015, that winter turned out to be one of the heaviest snowfalls in the Baltimore area in several years, perhaps even decades. Since then Skookum has been refining our processes and doing all we can to provide excellent service to the Yard. The dedication and superb work delivered by Skookum Curtis Bay employees continues to exceed customer expectations. This excellent service certainly played a role in continuing the Skookum-Coast Guard relationship with the Training Center in Yorktown. We look forward to continuously improving for the next five years at the Yard and we look forward to whatever other opportunities that might bring.

Skookum Continues Partnership with U.S. Army for Another 12 Months at Fort Riley, Kansas Skookum was awarded another 12-months to perform Facility Maintenance Services at Fort Riley, Kansas, home of the “Big Red One,” the Army’s 1 st  Infantry Division. This contract is commonly referred to as SRM, Service, Repair and Maintenance.      Skookum’s partnership with the Fort Riley Directorate of Public Works (DPW) began in 2017 and has been a model for customer service, quality, safety and achieving excellence in facility management.  Fort Riley was established in 1853.   The Fort Riley Team has increased services the past 3 years to include Fire Alarm maintenance, door lock repairs, Fire Sprinkler inspections and HVAC preventative maintenance. Our employees and subcontractors successfully meet and exceed the Army customer expectations.    We are honored to serve the Army customer in Kansas and are thankful for DPW’s confidence in the Skookum team.

I would like to thank Aaron Stevens and Mike Stasiuk for their leadership and trouble shooting skills they are truly assets to the USCG Yard and are much appreciated. Skookum Wins Again! Skookum has had the pleasure of providing facility maintenance services for a large commercial customer the last three and a half years in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, which is just outside of Philadelphia. On June 23 rd , Skookum received the great news that the customer accepted our proposal for the future contract. Skookum beat out other commercial facility maintenance contractors and proved our incumbent knowledge and understanding was a best value solution for their operation. This win would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the current Site Manager, Chris Pyfer , and his fantastic team that continues to provide excellent service to the customer. The contract is a five-year contract and adds two more full-time positions at the site to compliment the services that was added to the contract.
