Let's Get Outside! Yoga I
This is a yoga I class that meets outdoors at a different park each week. With plenty of space to spread out and lots of fresh air, we can practice without masks while remaining safe. There is nothing like practicing outside, rooting our feet into the earth for grounding, and opening our hearts to the sky for clarity. You need no props at all, but you might like to bring a yoga mat (maybe an old one, as it will get dirty), a water bottle, sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen and/or bug spray. We will find shady, secluded, and mosquito-free areas to practice, usually with options both on and off the grass. In case of inclement weather, we will practice over Zoom. Join us for a glorious natural cleanse from all we’ve been through these last months!

Join Chelsea Tuesdays @ 7pm and/or Wednesdays @ 9am!

** The park location will be posted each week with the class name. In case of inclement weather, (((ZOOM))) will be noted with the class name and clients will be notified of the change asap. 

** Instructor will email the participants the details for the meeting place 24 hours before the class.

Karen Hover is coming on to join the essence team! She is a 200hr RYT graduate of the ‘essence of yoga’ Teacher Training School! Look for her early morning class to begin Tuesday, July 7th 7-8am! Get a fresh start to your day with her invigorating flow and teaching style!
In-Studio Classes and Zoom Classes!
As we prepare to re-open for in-person classes at essence, it has meant many adjustments and a lot of deep and careful planning in order to re-open safely, and there are some adjustments to accommodate the new reality. We are so excited to be able to work with you at the studio again. However, we also have lots of amazing classes available via Zoom to use from home. Please read ALL thoroughly to make your experience when coming into the studio easy, and to avoid delays in starting back with us. It might seem a little overwhelming at first, but it will be no big deal after a time.

Please watch both videos of  Diana’s Greeting and Studio Walk Through to get a better understanding of the policies and procedures we must adhere to. By signing up for an in-person class, you are indicating you have viewed and understand these policies, and agree to abide by them. Please note the change in mask-wearing effective June 30th...masks must now be worn at all times including during aerobic activity.

All clients must arrive to the studio parking lot a minimum of 15 minutes before their class or private session OR be logged into their Zoom class.
If this is not in place, we can not promise to be able to allow you in for your in-studio or Zoom session.   We have many safety considerations to consider with the guidelines in place and our staff have many things to prepare for classes and private sessions. Please be on time. 

FACE MASK POLICY (updated 6.30.2020)

Everyone entering essence must have a proper mask or face cover on covering both nose and mouth. Masks must be worn at all times, even during aerobic activity.


You will be sent a text or waved into the studio when it is your time for class/session to begin entering the studio. All clients must enter with 6 feet between each other and we have marked the sidewalk and entrance way with 6 feet markers.  DO NOT enter the studio for any sessions until you are sent a text or given permission.  We legally can not have anyone congregating in the studio and must honor the 6 feet of space rule. 


When entering the doors, ALL clients EACH time much sign that they agree to all COVID studio guidelines and have no exposure risks listed at the door.  ALL clients and staff will have their temperature taken each time and a mask MUST be worn be all entering the building covering both nose and mouth. 


All clients must bring their own bag for storing shoes, water bottles, personal belongings and all must bring their own towel.  We will not have any towels, mats, or small class supplies available. 
Please see the kit Diana is helping many get to have you need (below). Cubbies can not be used by the front desk due to space limitations. The cubbies in the cycle room can be used but some will be marked to not use. The bags in the kit are perfect for such a need and we have made space in all room for bags to sit safely by you on the floor. 


Spaces in class can not be saved.  As you enter your class, please move to the farthest end of the room to keep space guidelines.
Please read the descriptions of each class you sign up for to familiarize yourself with all for that class including entrance door and more. 

If you have questions about your packages or other topics, it is best to call or email the studio. We can not allow congregating and all must leave the studio immediately following your class/session to allow for cleaning and preparing for the next class/session. Our staff will return your class and/or emails. Please be patient as we work to get all set for our clients as we transition back.

  • UV light sterilization is used in hospital rooms including ICU 
  • UV lights kill molds, allergens, viruses, and bacteria and is known to be one of the most powerful sanitizing methods without using toxic chemicals 
  • Takes only 10-15 minutes for all exposed surfaces to be sterilized
  • We will be using these daily at least once along with typical contact sanitizing with wipes and antimicrobial solutions 
  • NO animals, plants, or people can be exposed to this powerful light and it will be done when safety measures are fully in place. 
  • All areas of the studio will be sanitized daily


We have spent quite some time planning and preparing to re-open essence according to the guidelines set forth by the state of Ohio and the Health Department and in accordance with what we intend for all of our staff and clients at essence. If any individual does not honor these guidelines, we will discontinue allowing them to participate in classes and/or private sessions at essence immediately. We do not hope to need to take this action but will do so if necessary. Our goal is to support and protect all as a community. And your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Important Zoom Class Reminders: 

  • For those participating via zoom, you must be visible on camera. We can not allow participants coming on with us without a camera option going forward for safety reasons.
  • Be signed up at least 2 hours before the class begins
  • Zoom link will be sent 1 hour before class begins to your email 
  • Be signed in 15 minutes before class 
  • Ask all in your home to be off the internet for best reception for Zoom classes 
  • You will be on mute during Zoom classes and can send a chat message to the instructor if needed. 
  • For yoga classes, please leave savasana at the beginning or stay on the entire time to avoid being disruptive to the class.

Understanding Shoulder Function

Date:  Sunday, July 19th
Time:  12:30pm - 3:30pm
Cost:  $25 per person ($40 for 2 YEP sessions)

This unique joint that has more range of motion than any other! 

This YEP workshop will be available both live in-studio and via Zoom. We will accept 10 participants live in-studio and we will be using the space between 2 rooms for the practice part of the workshop. Those that take on Zoom must be visible for the entire workshop.

You must supply own props for the workshop. Needed: 36” foam roller, a rubber ball like those we use in he studio in Pilates, a flat elastic band, mat, and a small fascia ball.

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

Staying the Course During Such a Time
It has been so very nice to see those of you that have returned to the studio for classes and private sessions... and to see all of you participating from home, too!  Your voices and and faces feel like home to all of us at essence and, although with new things to consider, we all feel this amazing underlying presence that drives us to stay our course for wellness. 

Long ago, I named ‘essence’ from this deep understanding that I have witnessed and experienced woven into all I have learned in my life and have continued to experience even more so through the last few years.  “To truly care for ourselves, we must take care of all that we are…our essence.” Today, with all the transitions and unexpected events and things to care for around us at once, that could not be more true and important to remember. When I refer to staying the course, I am not noting that things must be adjusted or new practices put in place. What I am noting is that we must remember to practice all that cares for our essence and do so with flexibility and strength both. I ask my health coaching clients all the time, “What matters most?” This is usually in regards to eating something that is not healthy for us in a given moment and forgetting the bigger picture of all their hard work to reach the goal they have for the sake of a brief moment that will set them back. But, knowing what matters most and following through with the flexibility to be able to adjust when life throws us curves can be applied to that we do for our wellbeing. 

How do we make the necessary changes to adapt yet still maintain the focus and discipline to continue to “do the things” that are the foundation to our wellness?  I say this about physiology all the time, “Strength and flexibility are equally important to healthy, proper functioning. One is not more important than the other.” This is true for our entire wellbeing and can be a very useful focus now as wee continue our self-care through such a time of so much new and unknown.

We have to remember that each tree in the forest affects the entire forest and that sometimes we need to care for the tree (a smaller piece) while still keeping an awareness of the entire forest (our ultimate goals).  Caring for "one tree", or one small part, affects the big picture. This ability connect and ability to stay the course on what might seem like the smaller things through such a time are so important. We so look forward to helping you stay your course and to support you in doing the things you need to do for yourself.

Due to space and safety concerns, we cannot have extra belongings in the rooms while classes are going on. Although we take pride in our amazing community and studio, Essence is not responsible for lost or stolen items, and we are hoping to help you prevent any issues while also keeping the studio safe and spacious for everyone.

No recordings, photos, or copying of classes, workshops, or private sessions without written permission from the owner. Please leave all cellular devices on silent/off and in your bag during sessions/classes.

In order to make the space comfortable for everyone, please refrain from wearing colognes or perfumes to class.
