Energetic/Meditative Yoga with Sound Healing

My Energetic/Meditative yoga class is about all three of these things. We will learn yoga skills that help re-set our nervous system both in class and outside of class. Gentle asana/poses will be used to create movement in our bodies to re-charge. To facilitate re-connecting out of ourselves, we will use light, guided meditation. I set this class on Wednesday to provide a chance re-set half way through our week. Timed during lunch time so that we can carve some time out for ourselves during busy times. We practice re-connecting to ourselves so each one of us can shine more of our own beautiful light upon the world. Oh, and sound... there is always some kind of vibrational sound therapy for savasana.

Join Maggie for a class that is for those wanting and needing to use props. She will incorporate: blocks, straps, bolsters, chairs, blankets (please purchase 2 of your own, available at essence for only $8 each. This class focuses on connecting breath to movement through postures that flow together in sequence. Come explore your own prana, or life force, through meditative movement and deep awareness of body and breath.

Yoga Core with Mark
Thursdays, 6:00am

Our physical and energetic core is integral to all that we do. Developing a stronger core helps to inspire overall strength, safety, confidence and stability in our asana practice. The Yoga-Core class will utilize traditional yoga poses to develop an awareness of how to engage our core, emphasizing use of the breath to move with intention and control. While not strictly a flow class, we will use pose sequencing to integrate a strong foundation into our practice.

2019 Fall Silent Retreat

This fall, Diana hosted the first 'essence of yoga' silent retreat at Lial's stunning renewal center in Whitehouse. Ohio. All were so amazed at the power of this retreat and are super excited to make this a part of their year going forward! The foods were wholesome and delicious vegan/gluten free, the grounds were stunning and so calming, the guided meditations and practices were restoring and relaxing, Diana assisted those that came in so many techniques for finding balance, and her private energy sessions were powerful for those that used them.

Private Room with own private bathroom:
$400 (includes both nights and all 6 meals)

Private Room with hallway/community bathroom:
$350 (includes both nights and all 6 meals)

We have 13 of each type of room available for each weekend... only 26 rooms total.

* Diana will offer private sessions again and will allow for booking these closer to the events. She is also working to have a massage therapist for both of these weekends. All who sign up will be able to pay for these sessions at discounted rates closer to the time of the weekends.

Reiki 1 & 2 Certification Training with Diana Spiess
Reiki is an ancient, Japanese method for healing and balancing the body both physically and energetically. The concept is to support the body and being’s innate ability to heal by supporting and channeling Divine, universal energy. Becoming certified in this amazing modality is both powerful and humbling.

Diana Spiess is a Reiki Master and brings to her certifications and trainings all she teaches from her background of 29 years in the wellness industry. She’s had many certify in Reiki with her and some also have redone their attunements from previous trainings.

Enjoy the Summer... Stay on Track!

It seems as though the weather is finally starting to work in our favor to get outside and enjoy the summer! If there’s anything that I love about summer, it’s doing so many fun things with family and friends and getting out to special events. I have so many health coaching and private training clients that get worried about staying with the eating and exercise plans during this time of the year because of all the travel and fun events. 

Here are some tips I offer:

  • Eat before you go. It’s so much easier to eat healthy at home and if we take the time to do so before we go out, it will for sure make it easier to not eat unhealthy foods. It’s the same as not going grocery shopping hungry. 
  • Book your workouts. Get them on the books and remind yourself that they are not just to stay healthy but also to keep from getting injured or too out of alignment while traveling.
  • Take time time to breathe deeply…often. Breathing deeply keeps us out of fight-or-flight mode and that, alone, can help us digest our foods better and keep us from eating or drinking poor food choices. It also helps to control blood pressure, inflammation, and many other symptoms from stress.
  • Hydrate well. It’s so easy to get busy and forget to drink enough water. Or, if we are drinking other things, we might forget that sugar, caffeine, and alcohol inhibit our ability to hydrate. If they are in our drinks, it’s making dehydration more likely. Also, keep out the inflammatory foods that dehydrate of blood and soft tissues. . 
  • Get adequate sleep. The studies on this are concrete. Getting 7 or more hours of sleep and staying on circadian rhythm is very important. Getting 1 hour of sleep before midnight is equivalent to 2 hours of sleep after midnight in quality. So, it’s better to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier than the opposite. 
  • Stop often when you're traveling to stretch and roll. Take your stretch strap and fascia roller and use them often when you’re on the road. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of this when traveling. 

So many of you have made such huge strides in your health and wellness and my hope for you is to continue throughout the summer. “Discipline is the difference between what you want now and what you want the most.” ~ Abraham Lincoln

Due to space and safety concerns, we cannot have extra belongings in the rooms while classes are going on. Although we take pride in our amazing community and studio, Essence is not responsible for lost or stolen items, and we are hoping to help you prevent any issues while also keeping the studio safe and spacious for everyone.

We have a small lost and found box by the back restroom that is starting to overflow... please check when you're in again to claim anything that is yours.

Studio Policies

No recordings, photos, or copying of classes, workshops, or private sessions without written permission from the owner. Please leave all cellular devices on silent/off and in cabinets during sessions/classes.

Bring indoor shoes with you. Outside shoes are not permitted. The salt damages the studio's wood flooring.

In order to make the space comfortable for everyone, please refrain from wearing colognes or perfumes to class.
