 TRI-COUNTY WOMEN VETERANS

Message From The President

NEWS YOU CAN USE

Dear TCWV SISTERS, AMBASSADORS, AND SUPPORTERS,

As we celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th Anniversary, we reflect on the sacrifices and service of those who came before us, our own service, and those who will follow us.

June was an extraordinary month for TCWV. Our "Women Veterans Recognition Celebration" brought together veterans, family members, community leaders, and supporters to honor the historic contributions of YOU—the women who have served our nation, and continue to serve. The event highlighted the power of connection and reinforced the importance of our mission.

Our participation in the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs “State Women Veterans Summit” also brought recognition to our organization and, more importantly, celebrated the service, leadership, and contributions of women veterans across Florida.

Lastly, the "Proudly She Served" exhibit at the Women’s History and Cultural Center showcased the contributions of women veterans throughout our nation's history and into the present day.

Together, these events strengthened public awareness of women veterans’ service and ensured their stories are recognized, preserved, and shared.

Flight Of Recognition

The Tri-County Women Veterans Flight of Recognition is being planned for mid-October 2028 (16 th – 20 th timeframe). This three-day, two-night journey is dedicated to honoring women veterans and celebrating our significant contributions to defend the values our nation holds dear. The flight will accommodate 150 participants, including women veterans of all ages and the support personnel necessary to ensure a safe and memorable experience.

Monetary support is essential to ensure the success of this historic flight, and contributions may be made in the form of sponsorships or donations. Sue Roper has sponsorship packets available for those desiring to seek sponsorships and/or donations from businesses, clubs, social groups,

individuals, etc. and will have these packets readily available at our July 20 th meeting. If you would like packets earlier, please contact Sue at usnodu@aol.com or text her at (757) 576-9688.

The Flight of Recognition Agreement and Reservation form will also be available at the July meeting. To reserve a seat, a $200 nonrefundable but transferable reservation fee is required for each participant.

While inspired by the national Honor Flight concept, the Tri-County Women Veterans Flight of

Recognition is a unique initiative. Unlike other programs that operate under age-based eligibility requirements and a condensed one-day format, this mission is designed to recognize the service and sacrifices of all women veterans, regardless of age.

Our Flight of Recognition will provide a more immersive experience, allowing participants to share stories, build connections, and receive the recognition they have earned through a

dedicated three-day journey focused exclusively on women veterans.

Even if you don't volunteer, please come to Belle Glade and Socialize with us! All are welcome. We want to get to know you.

*We do not play Trivia-we are only there to sell raffle tickets.
